a friend gave me a link to it earlier.

it sounds like it'll just be star wars galaxies with a 40k sticker on the front and jedi's replaced with space marines.

but i've never played galaxies (had a guy in my class who reached top level and stuff and he talked about it non-stop to one of my mates though lol) so i don't know if a 40k flavoured version would actually be any good lol.

i think warhammer online sounds better with it's war-effort orientated game play. but then i never liked the idea of space marines gunning down tyranids as i much as i did chaos stommas embedding their daemon axe into the skull of an empire swordsman lol.

Could be cool. Could suck.

Would be best if it was realm-vs-realm...

But it might just suck. MMORPG doesn't match well with the plentiful death in 40k...

well, unless everyone was an imperial guardsman and all the NPC enemies were orks and 'nids. i think there'd be enough to kill then :P

I meant, you'd need a system similar to 'battlefield' games, but on a far larger scale... MMORPGs involve keeping your character alive and going on quests... 40k is about going to war and getting killed.

[Edit] wow, that article had no real information whatsoever in it.

tell me about it. seemed more of a chance to flaunt the fact that they have this licence agreement thing.

i have no idea how they'll transfer 40k into an mmo. and by the sounds of that interview it doesn't look as though they do either lol.

... Did you even read the title? MMOG. MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE GAME. Theres no roleplay whatsoever, so its not WoW-goes-40k. Its probably more like Spacemarines-vs-therest-in-maps or whatever. I think it can be pretty cool... if I can play Orks or Nurgle ^_^

Man I hope it doesn't go like Galaxies; I've never seen such a whinny torn appart gaming community in my life, and I was only playing the trial!

Officially Awesome
I've never played Galaxies (cannot see the point of paying constantly for a game, just give me Oblivion any time), but from what I've heard it didn't go too well, lots of bugs, broken quests and very few people playing it for those reasons, kind of a vicious circle.

Bunny ear says flop

*nods*... One of the reasons I absolutely despise MMORPGs is the apparent monthly payment to play the game. I mean, first you have to buy it and then you have to pay for it to use it? The weird thing that really scares the crap out of me is that so bloody many people actually do this as well!
