:o ! i get beaten up and the police do barely anything (and the person had aparently done things like that before)! and he crosses the road and gets forced to the grouond by 5 officers! gah, the law realy sucks, it doesn't protect us much, infact we get in trouble if we fight back when were the victoms of an unprovoked attack, and the people who are willing to break the law, don;t see the law as much of a detterent to stop them.

Were i live, people are constantly being attacked for no reason, every now and again i hear of someone whos in hospital because he was "beaten up by chavs" and the "law" that is out to protect us, does nothing but make us think twice about defending ourselves! Gah, and then i see someone getting arrested for walking across the road? grr stupid law

i'm with mebob, seems that police only catch the crim's that arn't worth catching lol.

in my area it seems more that trouble only follows those that cause it. so, i'm pretty safe from glass bottles over my head, however the police cruise past us in the summer telling us not to skate on the roads, that or be taken to redditch police station <_<

i'm yet to be stopped for warhammer, though one of the kids at my local GW gets a little berserk whilst playin his gobblins (imagine a 13 year old dancing on the spot squealing "wagh") i'm hoping that he could get done for, well i don't know what but i'm hoping that he is lol. i mean cheering when a charge is just in range and you break and run down something much harder than what you charged with is fine IMO, but squealing like snotlings? i mean it brings disgrace to the O&G army book...

sorry for digressing lol. back to the subject at hand... err, damn you police! go catch some bad guys and leave jay-walkers and skate boarders alone!

that is a pretty bad piece of justice i must say but if you were an officer and a man just ignored you and kept walking dont you think you would get a bit pissed off

and @ Mebob it sucks when people just attack other people for no reason. im lucky my area is pretty rough and it has never happened to me but i think thats because i sort of know the people that do that sort of thing and i have pretty big friends ;)

@ Cazgar Yes Leave Skaters alone, Cops!! <_<

Lol. It's like watching Cops and other such tv shows. It's amazing how the police in the US will jump straight into a "hands-on" approach to dealing at the first sign of non-compliance. Yes, they go on about the risks in the job and how if they don't take all precautions they might get killed and better safe than sorry and tv dramas scripting rubbish about a gentle cop (always the former partner of the hero) who hesitated and got shot to death by a 5 year old kid packing an uzi... but seriously, discretion and common sense anyone?

It's mostly power-trips, that's what it is. It's "you show some respect and grovel, becoz I'm the Law, I am authorised to arrest you and point guns at you if I feel like, see?"

Its not them, its the Law. At some point, the Law stopped from protecting order and became a bussiness.

Or, in even more perverted cases, a tool to grab political power during the elections (promising bogus laws to protect the civilian from even more silly dangers. The greatest example of this is the law that prohibits violent videogames. I just fail to understand this, and all I know is that its used in germany to get more votes.)

@Garthvader: In New Zealand perhaps. In Ye Olde Zeeland (South of the Netherlands) where I live, they don't realy do anything. A few days ago, for example, I saw two cops, armed with the allmighty gummi stick and a firearm, billing cars that where about 5-10 minutes too long on the parking space. When someone who was smoking a joint in public passed by, they didn't do anything, while this is illegal!

while police for the most part are good and doing their job. i just think to the cop that recently got killed up near me in white center (which is ironic name cause its basicly seattle's harlum) who was an outstanding example of what good cops are...

i blame the media, for example the fox show 24 encourages toture as a way to save lifes... tell us where the bomb is or im gunna shoot you. not sure what this message is sending society. but i just have to think back to the tazer event down in cali univeristy (where basicly a student only real crime was to talk back to authority and they repeatly tazered the guy when he couldnt stand up *DUH YOU JUST TAZERED HIM*

like manson said... is adult entertainment causing kids to kill, or is kids killing adult entertainment?

I remeber i when i felt the law protected me, i respected the law i stupidly thought that if someone broke the law they would be punished, but i moved to a "zero tolerance" school, were you had to pass a test (the 11+) to get into, and everyone their gets A's and A*'s (apparently :/ ). i came to my school expecting it to be uber strict and punish you for something as simple as asking the person next to you for help, after over 4 years at my school, i have lost all faith in the school rules, as people mess around during lessons, throwing things, shouting out, insulting the teachers ect, and the teachers do nothing, i was headbutted in school, by someone for "a laugh", then punched and mocked for weeks to come, and the deputy head did nothing but reassured me he was sorry and wouldn't do it again :/ , this year i joined "the peer support group" to help out peopel being bullied, turned out the people i was ment to help now constantly annoy me an waste my time, people are constantly being bullied and picked on, and the teachers do nothing,
But.
Outside of school, someone talked to a girl at the school gates, he got in alot of trouble, people walk around with their shirts untucked and mess about on the streets just after school, they get into trouble, but what ever happens inside school, the deputy heads and teachers jsut turn a blind eye to unless they have a visitor. My "zero tolerance", school which is aparently the "second best school on the wirral" only care about how the school looks on the outside and that the students get good grades, but nothing else that happens inside school.

Now i know thats slightly off topic, but school rules is a smaller scale law, now hopefully from my description you can see how much the rules are "enforced", and magnify it by so much and you'll have the law, the law will aparantly protect you from criminals, yet i'm always hearing of someone being beaten up by chavs they've never met outside of their own homes(sometimes leaving the person in hospital),(and the occasional stabbing, but i've not heard of many of them around here) and when i got beaten up (jsut down the road from my house, somewere i walk past practically every day on my way to school) the police i talked to knew the guy by name as he's a "repeat offender" so if he's been caught beting peopel up for no reason several times, and he's been "punished" for it, why is he still doing it?

So basically i've lost faith in the law and school rules compeltely, They can't stop unprovoked attacks in england, but atleast in America they can stop jay walkers, we don't want them terrorising our streets do we? :/
