Some of you may vaguely remember me doing this before, and here I am doing it again.

Basically, I need to gather some data for the coursework in my maths GCSE, and I found out last time that this is a great way to do it (and also becuase I'm on holiday so don't talk to too many people!).

To summarise my assignment:
I have a product (chocolate beans) which I need to make a variety of possible packaging for, then recommend one.

An element of this is finding out what people like or would like to buy; so you are the people, and I need to find out which of the 4 boxes below, you would buy.

Its really simple, just pick the box you would buy. They're all the same price and have the same content (100 chocolate beans) and amount of content, so this is mainly asthetics.

The chocolate beans are all the same size and flavour, about the size of a baked bean.

The boxes are roughly this size.
Boxes A and D have top flaps which open, box B has a circular scored hole in the top flap which is punched through, and box C has a little flap on the side.

A, easily.

the others have too small a openings. i wouldn't be able to see what choclates i was picking out. and being as i don't like half the choccies in most big boxes i need to see what it is that i'm picking up.

box A is the best for this need ^_^

I'm drawn to the uniqueness of box C. Not only do I not lose all the chocolates when I drop it (which I normally do), the possibilities for an interesting conversion with the box is too good to pass up! :D

I'd go for C.
Looks funky and its different to the normal and boring box standards. :P

Also, you might want to take into consideration, working out the amount of material used for each box type and work up a cost analysis for each box type. That will be bound to gain you extra marks in a maths coursework. ;)

Already done, Scar, already done :P .

Good stuff. You could estimate sales and comapre them to the relative costs of each model as well. Good luck with it. ;) ~ Scarfester

I would also choose A. Mainly because i hate shoving down my arm in something to get my candy out. Looking at the size of Box D the whole arm should be needed ^_^ .

Box B is still better than Box D but not better than Box A although it is still better than Box C.

C because it can probably fit in my pocket (my discman fits easily). And it's flat, so no chance of bumping it to the ground if I leave it on a table. Also, I can have fun with the box when there's no chocolate in it :) Freesbee anyone?

B! It looks like it is the best to dispense in your hand. The smaller opening allows you to shake out almost exactly how much you want! Plus, it'd fit in your pocket.

Kinda like that!

I would choose C. It really is unique, those rectangular ones (A and D) are so boring, and the B is just an imitation of Smarties as Lughtigern pointed out.

C, as it look different, and you will easy let out too many chock-beans.
Therefore the custumers empties the box faster, and go to buy another.
Presuming they like the taste ;)
=> more sale

Not only will it be unique in it's kind (I have never seen chocolates packaged like that) and thus feel hip and cool, but I will always remember the brand that put out a box like this. (I don't want to advertise, but you know "Celebrations"? I remember them mainly because of the way they're packaged.)

I don't mind the fact that it will be a little more inconvenient retrieving the chocolates from the box. Since chocolates are a treat and I don't have to use them daily, I don't mind suffering some extra inconvenience in return for a flashy design.

Hope it helped ^_^ .

Cheers,
Bodacious.

Because you could role them towards people who said they wanted some?

I would pick A.

Mostly because I believe it has a larger surface area meaning it has more space on the inside.
