Empire army book; Has anyone got it?

What the title says.

I got myself a copy today and am mostly happy with it. However Im amazed at how rediculously overpowered the Rocket Battery is. Ive always thought it was a stupid idea, but now i see the rules I dislike it even more. It may not be that accurate, but even if it partially clips a unit it will do damage!

Besides that (and the Tank ofcourse...) though, its rather good. The special characters (all 6 of them!) are well balanced, and the Emperor Karl Franz has some great potential (you can now have him on foot!)! ^_^

I shall really enjoy fielding the Empire this edition, and am trying to decide how to theme my army and wether it should be led by Kurt Helborg or Karl Franz (or neither). Ah, the possibilities! ^_^

Any thoughts or comments on the book?

I'd better start running to my gaming store then!

Ow wait. It only opens till tomorrow (and they probably won't have it in a while because of regular problems with mail order).

Well anyway I'll let you know when I do. Too bad about the rocket battery, but I'm sure excited to start building a new list for my upcomming knight/wizard army.

Well you'll be pleased to hear then that Knights are still very decent this edition. Plus I think they have higher WS than before... And now they can Outriders as fire-support...
And trust me when I say Helborg is a great addition for an all Knight force (or even just for a single unit)!

Sadly White Wolf Knights aren't as good as regular Knights, so I'll be needing to pull the arms off mine and adding Lances...Which is sad because the Hammers look cooler!!

.... urrr..... Are they released in the shops before they hit the online store, then? Or is it out in Au before Uk?

I'm in the UK, and GW online store says 'Empire army book - Released 6/1/07'... It being the 4th today.... :huh:

I wrote a large guide on the empire then i deleated it. Don't ask me how.

The things that got better are: State troops, because they got cheaper. Great swords because they got cheaper and are no longer 0-1. Kniggits because every unit can become inner circle. The special characters, expect a kurt helborg in every army. Trust me :ph43r: .

Things that's better, for us ^_^: No magic items for the engineer. To hit modifiers for the hellblasters. Both the steamtank and Karl Franz got nerfed, big time. White wolves get to have great weapons instead of white wolf hammers.

I also dont like the fact that the empire now get a dragon. I mean, what are they doing? They have a large bestiary already! What about everyone else who only get horses (and even those who dont even have them!)?
You kids these days have it so easy, what with your Plague Furnaces and your Hellpit Abominations and your Bonebreaker Warlords. Back in MY day, all we had was Slaves and Clanrats!...and auto-hit Ratling Guns...and skirmishing Jezzails...and 2D6 Warp Lightning...and Lead From The Back...wait, what was my arguement again?

Franz got nerfed? O thought his rules looked pretty decent to be honest... And it appears that all special characters are getting toned down and none are taking up 2 Force Organisation slots anymore... Looks to be a trend of 7th ed.

And Knights... well the fact that they can have many IC Knights is somewhat lessened by the fact that they must now be Special to take this upgrade. White Wolves arent that bad, but definately worser off than last ed...

To be fair, though, only Karl Franz gets to ride a dragon. I'm generally against dragons for Empire as well, but it's not like any old character can get them.

Karl Franz previous rules included 1- to hit and the Ghal Maraz gave him 2+ Attacks with the D3 Wounds and no armoursave and wounds automaticly. Otherwise he stays the same.

I met Kurt helborg the other night. He...kicks...a*s. Runefang and laurels of victory should not exist. Especially for the points he's costing and the stats he's given.
