Would it help if I said it's not about the receiving, it's the spirit of Christmas that is truly important?

Nah, didn't think so.

~goes off to try and read, play on the Xbox and drink wine all at the same time~

@Vinz - yep, all 3 - am 3/4's throught the first one already and it's a very good read. Will give my verdict on all 3 when I've completed them, the rate I read that probably equates to about two week's time ;)

Well I did pretty well this christmas really. :)
Got a few items of clothing for work, some DVD's, a few books, about 20 bottles of beer. :o And I mean 500ml bottles! Its going to take me ages to drink them all, seeing as I hardly drink any more. I've vastly cut down on my drinking, by painting instead. Now i'll have to drink and paint at the same time. :)

I've just started reading one of the books I got for christmas. Its a horror/thriller called The Rats, by James Herbert. My gaming friend got it for me, as he knows I play skaven. I've read about 60 pages so far and its absolutely horrifying. It would make an amazing horror film.
The basic plotline is that there are a new breed of giant, black rats that have appeared in England and their attacking and eating people alive in some cases. Of course disease follows as well and this new breed are far larger than normal rats and are not scared of humans, but are just as cunning as normal rats.
Its very well written, but is quite graphic and adult in nature. It seriosuly recommend it to anyone on here over the age of........say 16-18!

I also have the follow up book, Lair. ^_^

Its going to be a good read for a month where i've vowed to paint 32 giant rats. :D

Other than all this my christmas was pretty good. Ate too much, drank a fair bit, but not as much as I expected. The one factor that made my christmas wierd though, was that I didnt get any socks. :o
I thought if that happened then the laws of entropy in the universe had gone wrong and we were all doomed. Apparently not! But I am doomed to old socks with holes in and cold feet.

Ah, the Rats! Fond memories there! There is a third book to the series too called 'Domain'. That one is set after a small nuclear exchange, which makes things a little interesting....but the first one is still the best, in my humble opinion!

If your going to do that, be careful that when you wash your brush to do it in the paint water rather than the drink. Ive done this a few too many times (not just with alcohol) and I dont notice until the drink fizzes around the brush (often soft drink) :P

Look who your talking to man. :P
I've had the taste of coke/Dr Pepper/Pespsi and paint many times.

Never had ale and paint before. Luckily I drink out of the bottles, so it would be hard to make that bad a mistake.

Sneaky - Good to know theres a third book out there. :) Im really enjoying The Rats so far. Its very well constructed as well. To make a screenplay of it, would take virtualy no changes or editing at all. Its quite cinematic in scope I think!
The way the individual stories are coming together reminds me a bit of zombie movies, Tarrantino and Guy Ritchie films. But with giant rats instead of cockneys. :P
