With steam tanks now running at £40, they're hardly for the person who is 'low on money'. Perhaps 20 state troops and 20 militia [£42] would be better? Throws into question the issue of their compliance to the 'knowing what you're on about' credibility decree of 1048... I hate the mechanical animals. Ditto for the rockets, both in models and rules. They're just not 'warhammer fantasy' to me. *shrugs*[/color] |

*laughs*... Stinky, don't worry. At one point I wondered wether the Skaven would get one of those 'wheels of doom' that featured in the Star Wars II movie (two wheels with a rocket launcher attached to the middle of it), cause the way those rockets were launched would make it an awful clan Skryre-esque weapon. Though, as this would combine a doomwheel with D6/ 2D6 missile shots I don't think we would ever see something like that in the WH Fantasy setting... Personally, I'm always for a solid core of infantry as well. Keep your forces together and in one big pack, that's my motto. Greetz |

But the mechanical pig is from the Chaos Dwarves, so that bit makes sense. Though I wouldn't expect the CD have that connection with the orcs. The Empire however invented the mechanical horse all on their own despite being human. The closest the modern world has to that is Aibo the e-dog, and Empire hasn't gotten around to inventing the discman yet. ![]() The hellblaster did exist in 14th century medieval europe. Known as the Organ Gun (just like the dwarf version), it was used in the 100 year war. The level of technology to create an organ gun is simpler than for creating a rocket, and the design of the model is more.. medieval-like, so maybe that's what makes it more credible to me. |

The chaos dwarfs have a big connection with Orcs. Half their armies are Orcs, most of their slaves are. They made the black orcs, making them the second best genetic engineers in the Warhammer World. (they come after clan Moulder, of course.) Hmm. Don't the slann also practice genetic engineering? Or was that just the Old Ones? Seems like a popular practice in the warhammer world. |

"I have a post-Armageddon vision. We and all other large animals are gone. Rodents emerge as the ultimate post-human scavengers. They gnaw their way through New York, London and Tokyo... within 5 million years, a whole range of new species replace the ones we know. Herds of giant grazing rats are stalked by sabre-toothed predatory rats. Given enough time, will a species of intelligent, cultivated rats emerge?" Richard Dawkins, The Ancestor's Tale | |||

This is true, but there was a medieval rocket launcher like the Helstorm too. The Organ Gun in Total War: Medieval 2 (a game lol) is called a 'ribault'. The Chinese happened to use rockets around the 14th century too, albeit for amusement. Later came a rocket launching platform, that launches several rockets to deadly impact. So there is as much reason to have it as an organ gun, regarding historical responsibility. ![]() The tank was also a design of Michelangelo as far as I can remember. It was made of wood, but because there was no copyright in the 16th century, he included some mistakes in it, so people wouldn't copy his idea. Either way, it was until the 20th century there was the first version of a tank on the actual battlefield, featured first in World War 1, with some machine guns though. The later tank grenate shooting one came in WW 2. -Q |

i wouldn't of thought that CD would give the orcs anything, or more that the orcs wouldn't accept anything CD. CD made black orcs, and black orcs rebelled and were only stopped due to hob-goblins changing sides to the CD. so, why would the CD give the orcs anything? they go out and enslave them to do their work, so why start giving them free stuff all of a sudden? the OK have a similar sort of thing (albeit a lot bigger and deamonesk lol) off of the CD, but thats because the ogres trade with the chaos dwarves, giving them gnoblar slaves and their mercenary gold in return for explosive weapons. orcs don't seem like the kind of race that would bother giving slaves (of their own race atleast) to another race in return for trade, not one which they had a bitter war with at any rate. so, basicly, in my oppinion only the OK and the CD can have mechanicle steeds, everyone else should stick to plain old biological ones . i don't mind either of the new artillery peices. just that horse seems a little odd lol |

Why wouldn't the Orcs trade a few gobbos to the CDs to get some nifty stuff? Also, I think it's quite likely the Orcs amass tons of plunder on their rampages that they themselves have no use whatsoever for. (gold, trinkets, imperial artillery, etc. All stuff Orcs can't or won't use) Why not trade it with someone? And whom better to trade with than the Chaos Dwarfs? |
