What is all this talk about The (man-thing)Empire and their (great....uhum) new weaponry. We could still kill-kill them...we are the supreme race. -What to do about the tank, maybe an hired/enslaved Giant will do the trick... talk to clan moulder about this. -The rocket battery can be destroyed by our great tunnelers. :ph43r: -The engineers and their machanical horseys (and exploding birds) are no problem for our supreme assasins. :ph43r: now we must talk to clan skryre to upgrade our weaponry. ....man-thing Empire....pff |

Personaly i don't hate 40k i quite like it, but one thing i do hate, is when the difference between them gets smaller! Seeing granade launcher in 40k, is okay, fits the context perfectly well, seeing grenade launchers in fantasy is just wrong, how many robots were their in the medival times? Not alot. I hate the fact that the technology is going so ridiculous, if they want to attract 30k players to fantasy, then what aboutt eh fantasy players? what about us, if people like big guns and tanks they play 40k, if people like the fantasy setting they play fantasy, so why try and mix the two up? you don't see a space marine in terminator armo9ur take on necrons with a bow do you? so why should we see humans take on rats with grenades and tanks? |

Yup, and chaos dwarves do have their own version of rocketry, so the technology does exist, but does the model really have to look like that? The least they could have done was used a style that looked like Da Vinci could have created it, that thing is a direct rip-off from your standard Surface-to-Air anti-aircraft rocket launcher things.I don't too much mind this gothic wacky technology slant we're seeing like the BSB's pink clockwork cherub and the armybook artwork like the funeral barge, and which we've already seen to a degree in the Mordheim rulebook, but I just think it's being approached in the wrong way. The style could be pulled off well, just not involving clockwork horses. |

You know the more I read the more I feel it's not the rules which really arn't that great or the fluff which in the end could make the jump if you really stretch it but the models; seems like a constant complaint is simply how stupid all these new models look. Maybe they just need to hire some new sculptors...

I have to agree about the models, they aren't that great. Infact, such is my dislike for them that Im continuing to collect my army via ebay (except the Pistoleers. These guys rock!) Im still a fan of the Empire army as a whole, and Im keeping my army focused around how last ed.'s armies looked, so none of this weird technology or crummy models
It is nasty. Sure it is kind of innacurate, but there is only 1 chance of a Misfire (cant misfire the second time you roll), and it is not so innacurate that it wont hit anything; there will be quite alot of casualties from it. I mean the size and power of the blast is damn rediculous. There is a very slight chance it will go haywire and hit your own men, but first you have to Misfire, then roll the right number when determining the effect. Not likely at all, and certainly not enough to justify its rediculously low points cost... - Sammy |

Hmm ok, it's just from the look of it it should have a misfire chart like the Ratling gun, the more rockets they choose to fire the more chance of it exploding or somesuch. |

About the models: I saw the grenade launcher this week and it looks more like a big handgun to me, it's not really bad. But the others... yeah, the models really don't help! |

That rocket-launcher does hurt sooo damn much... Fought against that thing (proxy, just for testing) last week, first round it shoots, it misses it's intended target for 8", but playing quite hordish that was still enough to hit another unit of mine. BAMM! 16 of 25 Clanrats dead with one shot. Even two direct hits of a mortar don't hurt that much (if you're not total out of luck). Well, the next two rounds it missfired and gave some nice fireworks, but killing my BSB's unit and let him run off the table in the first round was quite... enerving. Like, teh suck, really. I'm just glad my friend does hate the clockwork-cherub and Marshall Bravestar's lighting-out-of-YOUR-ass horse... The grenade-launcher is strange. It does damage like a larger pistol, no multiple-hit-thing, which I would have thought by the name "grenade". It's more like the Pistolier throws a huge ball made of steel at you. Hurts nevertheless ![]() I believe, that each new edition is regarded as a 10.000-years-step. Wait for Warhammer Fantasy Edition 15, when the new race of Emperor's Mutant-Marines fight against Those Insectiods spreading throughout the Universe like rats did under the Old World! |

That can't be right. Besides, GW IIRC had declared that they were freezing the Warhammer timeline, so we'll remain in this current period indefinitely. |

One think with the new rules, they seem to confine empire player more about the type of army they can field. Everything is geared toward making an infantry army supported by warmachine. before you could use mostly warmachine or mostly knight things like that. Right now you are pretty much stuck with one style of army. |

I don't get it Infantry, which was too often left aside by more powergaming armies, is now cheaper. White wolf knights were nerfed by changing their weapons Inner Cercle is no longer affordable in a warmachine army The rare choices are now a lot more towards "underpriced big toys of doom" Except mixing Inner Circle with loads of cannons/mortars, I don't see what you can't do anymore. |

Personally, I feel that, if the empire gets to have new toys of ultimate doom, then so should we. I mean, what have we got? A sub machine gun which can now be shot to bits in the first turn, an inaccurate flame thrower, a really bad sniper rifle and the world's crappiest cannon. Are you telling me that, over all these hundreds of years, thats ALL that clan skyre has turned out? Come on! They havent seen the stone throwers and mortars and gyrocopters that everyone else is coming up with!? We're supposed to be the most technologically advanced race in the old world! What the HELL have we been doing all this time!? But, all that aside, what REALLY ticks me off is that now the empire make dwarfs look like idiots with their technology. Just you wait, next edition we'll be looking at "Von Heinrich's whirling four bladed marvellous machine of alternating altitude". |
| You kids these days have it so easy, what with your Plague Furnaces and your Hellpit Abominations and your Bonebreaker Warlords. Back in MY day, all we had was Slaves and Clanrats!...and auto-hit Ratling Guns...and skirmishing Jezzails...and 2D6 Warp Lightning...and Lead From The Back...wait, what was my arguement again? | |
