I think - I THINK - there's a rule against advertising stuff for sale. However i'm not certain, so don't worry about it unless someone else brings it up.

There is a no-advertising rule in these boads, I am afraid.

Ads may be placed in your signature... but nowhere else... ;)

I really believe that there should be a trading section. A place where people can advertise what they want and what they're willing to trade for it. I've seen similar things on other forums, but not here.

I don't know where you'd draw the line on advertising stuff thats for sale though...

I believe the reason the council has not done this, is that such things can be used for scams. And if that happens, the forum is implicated as well. In today's lawsuit-happy society, UE.net could well catch the bullet for someone else's schemes to con good people out of money.

Transactions may still be carried out by PM, I believe.... (skaven)

That is the safest way to do it, i agree. But there is no way to spread the word about having stuff you're willing to trade. Maybe you could have a forum where you create a post stating what you want or what you're willing to trade, and then the topic automatically gets closed; that way the only way to contact the person who posted would be through PM.

It would make the Underempire be like a bill board, but any actaul deals are done by PM or msn or something.

Yes? No? :)

There are plenty of other sites to sell or buy stuff on line.

Thanks Stinkster.

And that's why we're not such hard-asses to remove links in sigs or in the occasional painting&hobby post to a trading-site. :)

So you are saying I can link to ads on other sites?

As a hypothetical example, say I'm selling some clanrat units on TWF, and have a thread with pics in their trade forum. I'm allowed to link to that 'for sale' thread from a 'check out my clanrat pics' thread on the UE.net painting forum?

That would be cool.

i think the point is if your discreate about it we dont care, but you active trading sparks a business relationship that council of 13 doesnt wish to encourage. part of having to deal with the fallout of such deals, part wanting to be of the hobby not the marketing side.

barter town is a great place that has trade referances and pointing to people to that site or others is better as its less grounds for those looking to abuse the system to prey on.
