Well, as the 'Civil War' campaign has ended, there is a little more time Vinz has able to make free for other projects. One of such projects is Man O' War, an old Games Workshop game that is (very) out of production now, which is based around the battles at sea. As with several of the games based around the Old World, the Skaven too are present at sea and off course, Vinz is going to built himself a little fleet the next months/ years. Though, with the speed in which I convert and paint, I think it'll most likely be the latter, but that's not the point here.

Men O' War [1]:
Doombringer @ 200 pts
- Firethrower @ 25 pts

Ship of the Line Squadrons [2+]:
3 Clan Pestilens Deathburners @ 150 pts
3 Clan Pestilens Deathburners @ 150 pts
3 Warp-raiders @ 75 pts
3 Warp-raiders @ 75 pts
3 Warp-raiders @ 75 pts

Crew:
20 slaves, 20 clanrats, 5 stormvermin @ 0 pts

Grey Seer [0-1]:
Warlock Champion @ 100 pts

Skaven Warlord [1]:
Warlord @ 0 pts

Special Crew [0+]:
Clan Eshin Assassin counter @ 50 pts
Rat Ogre counter @ 25 pts
Rat Ogre counter @ 25 pts
Rat Ogre counter @ 25 pts

Chaos Reward Cards [0+]:
Hideous Stench @ 25 pts

Total: 1000 pts
Models: 16

I've gone for a bit of everything, as I wish to have each part of the Skaven fleet available to me, even while it might be possible that I'll end up with some parts that might not be as effective as others are. Off course, the eventual goal for a Skaven fleet is simply getting as much vessels in the water, cause if you see the amount of misfires possible, it will be needed to have plenty of them in case some blow up by themselves.

So if anyone has any experience/ interest in the game, please share your opinion and ideas here!

This isn't really on topic, but what is Man 'O War? I gather it uses ships and boats. I'm guessing some kind of naval warfare in warhammer. But what sets it apart from all the other games?

Man'O'War is a KOOL 0LD SK00L game from the 80s (me thinks?) and is a normal boardgame. GW used to make ALOT of those kind of boardgames, they have actually done 111 non-main games!

@kingle tut:
Man O' War is created in a period where Games Workshop made extensive use of 'stat cards' and cardboard counters. It is indeed based around the naval vessels from the Old World, but the one thing that sets it apart from the other games is the speed in which it seems to be played. As with Battlefleet Gothic, you will be moving (and thus manoeuvring) each turn, which makes it a bit like chess where you need to think ahead several turns. That is what IMO sets it apart from other games.

*nods*...

Aye, I too have the problem that fairly few people where I live play the older Games Workshop games. Actually, after most of my gaming opponents have moved out of town due to college, I don't really play that much games in general. Yet, over the past year(s) it appears the older games are generating themselves a little fanbase, due to many gamers trying to find alternatives for the Warhammer game. As such, the older games that were discarded in the late nineties (though happened to be a lot cheaper then playing one of the core games like Warhammer or 40k) suddenly grew more and more popular. Trust me, if you go looking for games like GorkaMorka or Man O' War on eBay, you'll see the prices asked for those games being a LOT higher then when they were released. I have seen the Man O' War boxed set going away for over a hundred US dollars. I can tell you that when it was released back in '93, that price was a lot lower.

But still, enough babbling from me...

The one problem I'll have when trying to built the fleet though, as that (i) buying them is not possible since they're OOP and otherwise too expensive to get from eBay, (ii) my converting skills are an absolute horror, (iii) I don't have an immediate reference to scratch-built the models and (iv) I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to decently scratch-built something in the first place.

Luckily, there is this site called boardgamegeek.com, which has a very nice gallery. There, I have managed to get myself a certain reference in the form of pictures:

Skaven Doombringer: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/71053
Skaven Warpraider: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/71054
Clan Pestilens Deathburner: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/71056
Skaven fleet I: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/125495
Skaven fleet II: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/144955

Now what I need to do next is delve through the Man O' War yahoo group. I know that somewhere around that site, there have been people who have mentioned sizes of the miniatures. If I can get my hands on those, I might be able to draw some sketches from where I can start planning to built those models from scratch.
