The journey There was a sense of fear deep within Yernak something he rarely felt, he could feel it in his toes that there was something wrong about this place. It was as if the ground itself wept for it was dead every thing in this place was dead. The assassin who acted as his “babysitter” was named Sleshlik a name which made Yernak bite his tongue every so often and all round him were skaven. He knew it was unnatural for him to be with them for each time he caught the glimpse of that grey seer whose name was never mentioned he would always smile a jagged tooth grin but about what he never knew. “Dark master Sleshlik where are we going?” he asked. “Our underground city, man-thing” the assassin replied “I may yet slice your throat if you can’t stop talk-talking” Yernak hardly ever looked in Sleshlik’s eyes because he was missing one, though most of these ratmen where scarred, Sleshlik lost his eye in a fight with an ogre although the assassin says that he didn’t count on the poison not working he still got the job done. Yernak didn’t think that that the assassin killed the ogre with a poisoned blade. When he thought of that he look down to the assassin’s belt to find a small sword designed to go in with ease yet when the blade was pulled out it would bring more than some blood. Yernak shuddered and thought back to a few days ago when a bunch of wood elves tried to steal him, Sleshlik pulled the sword out and plunged it into the nearest elf, it slide in with ease yet when he pulled it out the elf was forced to hold his insides with his hands or carry them in a bucket. Needless to say the elves didn’t put up much of a fight and where forced to retreat. Sleshlik showed him the evil sword later that day and he wished he never saw the blade. It had what looked like hooks, that were designed to pull out the things that, he shuddered when he thought about it. It was only sharp on one side of the blade; needless to say it could go in with ease but had to be pulled out with all your might. Just then yernak heard something in the bushes and smelt rotting flesh, so strong was the smell yernak felt his stomach turn over. He ran to the other side of the road they were following and vomited. Just then Sleshlik came over and laughed about his misfortune. “you man-things are funny” he said “what did make you feel like this?” “there was a smell back there” yernak replied “it was like something died and wasn’t buried” Sleshlik stopped laughing and turned around and shouted to three skaven slaves, the slaves look frightened but did what they were told. They moved into the bushes and they found nothing, they moved deeper into the bushes. Soon they were out of sight. There was aloud scream and one of the slaves ran out of the bushes or tried to at least but something had gotten it’s legs. The slave dug it’s nails into the ground but was slowly being pulled back into the undergrowth. It’s screams rang throughout the area until it became quiet. “we must hurry man-thing for they are getting hungry” Sleshlik said quietly. “W-W-Where are we?” Yernak said tasting the strong taste of fear for the first time. “we are in the place where the dead-things rule but have no-no fear man-thing we are almost in our city there you will find out why you are useful to us.” Just then a screeching corpse came out of the undergrowth and looked at the sorry bunch of ratmen. Yernak felt like throwing up again, the body was missing fingers , eyes and it’s vitals were hanging out. There was blood still on it’s mouth of it last meal and held the head of one of the slaves. But just as the zombie moved to kill, Sleshlik through one of his throwing stars at it and decapitated the thing. The now headless zombie tried to get his attacker but was cut to pieces by a horde of ratmen. “come-come man-thing it is not wise to see the clan go in they’re frenzied state” “w-w-where to the master-seer?” yernak said in a frightened voice. “you man-things are unwise, we go to the undercity many more dead-things hide here.” He turned and shouted to two ratmen that carried some sort of weapon, “Burn the bushes, make sure the dead-things don’t get close again!” “but where is that?” he said quietly” “you are standing on it” Just as he was about to ask what he meant, a loud thunderous sound erupted from behind him, as he turned to see what happened, he saw the world around was burning. |
