Extra clanrat weapon options?

well, when the Bubonic court list first came out I was planning on making a full BC list. That plan never came to anything, and now I have 25 converted 'rotten rodents' or clanrats with 2 hand weapons lying around. Im pretty happy with how they look, so I didnt want to re-equip them, but by the same token I didnt want to leave them in a box unused... So this idea came to me: give clanrats different weapons options.

My idea was simply that in house-games, I can choose to give clanrats 2 hand weapons in either exchange for shield or spear (5 or 6pts, dont know which). Now I know this wouldnt be the most effective, but variety is always fun, and i do want to use those models. What do you guys think of this idea?

Furthermore, are there any other weapon options that might look good with clanrats?

I think that's an ok idea, it's not a large leap from the existing rules. Since 'runners and monks have no trouble being ambi-dextrous, sure clanrats would have no trouble with it too. :)

How many points do you think they should be? I cant decide if its a fair exchange for a shield or if they should cost as much as spears...

i think clannies are fine now. nice and simple. hell, i don't even take spears. anything else like halberds would undermine the importance and useage of stormvermin., and 2 hand weapons would make them a bit too killy, even at 6 points. most core troops can't get 2a, even at the cost of most of their armor.

just use em as normal clannies if your gaming group will let you. say it's for looks. if not then hey, you've got 20 more night runners.

well one way could be looting options so they take the extra weapons from the opponents to make them 2 handed not very much but its fluffy since skaven loot the good stuff from the opponents corpses for another day

I think you can compare them to Plague Monks, without the additional HW.
A 6+ AS is nothing compared to the T 4 of the Plague Monks. And the monks being immune to psychology weighs up against the unreliable factor frenzy gives.
But frenzy can be lost, and a 2nd HW can't...

I'd say swap shield for 2nd HW is good. 6+ AS isn't worth anything.

how bout, drop the sheild for a extra hand weapon for +1 point, or 2, because having an extra attack really is good, especially in such big numbers. So i think u have to pay a bit
