Clanrat
|
I was wondering if there is a way to make the slave models look more like slaves. I don't like the fact that they have armour or all swords for that matter. I would like to give them all chains instead of swords, or maybe cut of the tops of the spears and put them as like long hand cuffs across both arms. The other question is: should i make them look enough like clanrats so that I could use them for clanrats if I needed to? Has anyone found a way to make the shield removable? |

Instead of the clanrat box get the slave box. ![]() They have no armour and look a bit crappier than the clannies. ![]() What I plan to do with my slaves is hack the sword off of them and them score 'whip marks' into their backs with my modeling knife. I'll take the spear shafts from the clanrats sprues ive saved and use them to make crude clubs for the slaves. Paint them up with brighter fur than the clanrats and make them look extra crappy!

Maybe you could glue their arms bent backwards, and put a length of spear shaft or something through their arms, to make it look like those things that keep your arms back (I know what I mean at least ).James |

Im curently slowly working on mine and im giving them broken weapons, sticks,no weapon at all and if i give them a shield it will be in very bad shape and that the only thing they will have in hands. I also putting chains on their arms and maybe at the legs too. Im considering using few goblins as slaves aswell maybe ill get one box just to put some difference in the units. As for armored torso I paint them to look like leather and paint them as they look very used and I use unarmored heads. |

I thought that there wasn't a seperate box... at least I can't find one on the GW online stores (U.S. & U.K.). |

There isnt, i'm not sure what Scarfester ment. You just have to use the Clanrat box, and paint all the metal to look like leather. And convert them if you wish. James |

Im sure i've seen a clanrat slave regiment boxed set! Unless im going mad... Either way, just paint clanrats to look crappy and give them just spear shaft clubs. If there is only a clanrat regiment that is! |

Increasingly Insane

@ Scarfester: Sorry, you're clearly insane. There is no clanrat slave box. Another way to increase the "enslaved" look of your slaves is to mix the species up a little bit. For example, my slave regiments are half Skaven, 1/4 night goblin, and 1/4 human. This can also make painting a little more interesting, as you don't always have to paint clanrats. Also, chains are a MUST! |

I use mostly unarmoured skaven with a few gobbos chucked into the mix. Ive also shamelessly taken the idea from other members of this site to arm them with pointy sticks, which are cut down from clanrat spears. They are also painted all degraded and stuff... Entaro Adun |

There have been so many thread on this heres what i do - Give them spears, cut the spears in half so there sticks -chop of some tails and add blood, squeek! - use a hobby knife and make some whip marks on there back, and add blood -if your going to add other races, make sure its atleast 50% skaven squeeks |

Do not give them shiels or armour torsos, and it will be good enough. Mix the occasional handweapon for a (rusty) spear to give them that unprofessional look! I also give a highlite to the fur(extra bleached bone with the bestial brown) to make them look pale and weak. |
