That has just pushed itself past my seige tower, battering rams, turn counter and countless rats awaiting completion to become my top priority modelling project... This is one of the best Skaven terrain pieces I've ever seen!

@ Stinkhair
I'm pretty sure it's called "that pink foam" in pretty much every country. You can buy it at most hardware stores. It's fairly expensive, unfortunately... $20 for a 4'x4' slab, IIRC.

"a controled dusting to the wooden areas" wat is this dusting they speak of?

i may make one of these as i could certainly use some new terrain.... forrests everywhere r a bit boring....
GW, sucking the fun out of the hobby since 1999.

Never worry. Worst case scenario you die, and then there was no point worrying anyways.

it also comes in blue.... and it's proper term is polystyrene if I recall corrrectly. You can but it at a standard building supplies store.

I dont think it's well thought out... it honestly looks more orcy than skaveny (except for the bell...)

I love reading articles written by the American GW team (no disrespect to any Americans here), the way that they say things like:

it's time to reinforce this sucker

hehehee classic.......

Oh yeh, the model. It does look good, very skaveny. However I have tried and failed to make many bits of scenery, so i'll leave this to you guys. I wanna see pics when they're done though!!

As for nominations: Frankie, of course, because I love to vote for him and watch him fail

I must say him not that impressed either. It look like a big pile of wood. Nicely done and all, but thats now how I see a skaven hole, it lack the wackiness of the skaven.

Where are the heads on spike, the banner to the horned rat, the vermin running around, etc. etc.
I have a few bare metal dark elf model for sale, if interested pm me.

warwolt- night runners are skirmishers, so they'd cover the warren in two turns.. nothing stops them from moving 12" every turn!

Terrian-wise... im not a big fan of it either, i think it's too obivous and skaven wouldnt be that dumb.. i mean, they are geniusrats.. they have engineers, seers, etc.. why would they make a fort around a hole? not in character at all..

if i was a skaven (which i am heh-heh) i would just have a hole with iron bars or something that simple..

any defensive fortications would be INSIDE the tunnel where the fighting would be at skaven's advantage, in the dark, in cramped spaces, where their enemy is funneled to the wrath of the amzaing horde!

cheers!

Quiet, I'm plotting.

I quite like it, especially if it is given a context.

I agree that Skaven would be inclined to protect from the inside of the hole. However, I take it that this isn't a typical burrow enterance. Perhaps its up in the mountains, and the burrow enterance is regularly used? If you have Skaven coming out all day and night, it would be a good idea to protect the surface enterance of the burrow.

As you said RadStar, they are geniusrats, and aren't so stupid as to leave an important enterance unguarded.

Even then, I would more likely see a lot of different tunnel coming out of everywhere. You use differents one each time you're goin out so no onw his going to see you.

I really dont see the paranoîa in a big pile of wood placed there. I would more gladly see a small pile of boulder with clanrat hidden under it ready to spear anyone comeing too close. The hole in the middle, with different tunnel leading to the boulder fortification.

well, and gaming-whise is it nice to have something for skaven in a siege. And sure you probably could build a "fort" of this, but im just making a small one. More a entrance than anything else. Just hum.... think its 6'' long or something

Probably for the same reason we don't build our buildings entirely from solid metals, availability of materials.
