Some people knew it already, but now it has been scientifficly proven. Sport is a betther anti-depressia then any medicine on the market. So why don't you sign in at your local gym? Not only will it make you feel betther, but in the long run your body will also greatly improve, giving you even more reasons to become happy with yourself again. Or try a fighting sport, so you can grab that extra discipline and self defense many of us need or like to have. Plus its the ninja way to do. Perhaps a teamsport? Make new friends and play games where you need to use more then your mind and dice alone. WHat you will do with this information is up to you, I just shared it with you all because I care, and because I know it helps. Before I started sporting (boy I sound like a infomercial) I also suffered from depressions and such. Now that is all to the past. I hope people who feel depressed ocasionally or people who are already on medication will run towards the nearest gym and start developing a 6 pack and arms to be proud of. But its up to you in the end: Do you want to get rid of those black feelings? |

Good idea. Adding to the science behind the idea - exercise actually primes the brain to release compounds (who's names momentarily escape me) which make it more likely you are going to enjoy further exercise. Net result: exercise makes you happier and more likely to continue to exercise -> more happiness. Sure, it aint going to solve all your problems, but you'll be able to cope with them more readily, and that is often most of the battle. The trick is getting off your arse and exercising the first few times... |

Endorphins... Also, I think that bananas contain lots of endorphins, which is why people who eat many bananas, and monkeys, are pretty darn happy...[/color]

well alot of things release endorphins. so there is plenty of stuff out there for the none sporty types. well i guess there alot less demanding activities you could be doing like um chess? while listening to classical music? classical music from decent composers help just about everything it seems almost magical. incourages healthy fetal growth (especally the old grey matter) (although i imagine if you are reading this it is too late for this) and helps vegatables to grow and loads of stuff. other options could include not being depressed. that can do wonders for a person who wants not to be depressed anymore. oh and stinky your text is yellow only when i go into the edit post mode not normally. that has happend a few times before if my memory serves me correctly. well basic things play rugby more than football footballers get a graize on the knee their out for months rugby players could get a giant gash across their head they just get a quick patch up even been a event where a rugby dislocated his leg he just poped it in and kept going rugby players are the real men not footballer man-wives and from what ive seen rugby players are one of the most recpected in schools so if you need confidence thats the way to go in my opinions

Rugby is a awesome sport, I deffintetly recommend it if you are not affraid of minor injuries(no matter what I do, I allways end up injured )To me, its not about scoring, its about having fun with your friends while you kick eachother in the mud. ![]() Also adviceable are solitairy runs. True, Blood Vixen won´t considder you more of a man, but it feels so good once you run more then ten miles everyday. And its very easy too. Plug in that MP3 player in your spine(if you do not have spineplugs, use the earphones) and run at a normal pace around the block. If that went well, do a bit further the next day. And more the next. One day you might do a marathon

Get pipes, Pipe insulation foam, saw, carpet tape and friends. Take all down to local woods. Cut pipe into lengths... Whatever you like. Use carpet tape to attach pipe insulation to pipe. Fight!

dont play rugby play field hockey. its so much more fun, and you get real injuries, such as bone damage, concussion, and other fun, yet non life threatening lacerations and contusions. yes, i like big words

I second that. SA! 1 extra point though: to acheive maximum injuries, play with surprisingly strong 15 year old girls who haven't grasped the rules, but think its Ice-Hockey... Your shins will never be the same shape again! |

sport does other good stuff for you too, like develop teamwork, discipline, self-fulfillment, develop a skill etc... As for injuries, not such a big deal i reckon. You can also get hurt from sitting around doing nothing, getting unhealthy, then having a cardiac arrest when you're fifty. |

imho there seems to be less career ending "accidents" in rugby then football for a few reasons. One, more money involved, money is evil enough said. Dead start movement; in rugby you are almost always near someone so they really dont have time to run full speed to hit you, as for football they are like a semi running into you. myself i like soccer/real football. back in my highschool days I was a pretty damn good center, supporting offense and helping defence by shutting down the "star"/really good player. |
