O.K. I'm officially confused about the pronunciation of the word 'anime' I have heard many ways, and no longer know which one to use! The two most predominant are: 'an-ih-may' and 'a-neem' I have underlined the points of stress. So which one is it? or is it niether? |

I have no idea why it would be pronounced the second way, at least in any English dialect I've heard. I've always heard it pronounced the same as within "animation". I think a-neem would be written aneme, much like the word meme (pronounced meem), but this language is far from consistent. |

'an-ih-may' thats atleast the word we use in swedish, then its more like: 'an-im-ä' (a+e=ä... ä sounds like a in am) |

in kana, a-ni-me ... ah-nee-may. No accent anywhere. Like PM said, it's an abbreviation of animeshyon. |
