Alright, I am now thouroughly convinced that clanrat tails were invented by sadists. How do you model the tails so that the models rank up appropriately?

i got that problem to, but i found a way to make it work good. By pressing the top of the tail so long you can on the body and then have some glue to make i stay there help it "not be in the way", also putting the body on the front of the base gives lots of space for the tails

Knife! Greentsuff! Haphazardness! Tada! Rankable clannies! Jah, you want the tails going up, out of preference, [downwards tends to interfere with shields] and as close the the body as possible.... And if you can't find/clip one to be decent..... make one! Like so: ![]() Also... with slaves, a few scabby hacked off tails add to the beaten up effect.... ![]() Good luck! |

Clanrat tails are the reason so many of this sites residents are .... unstable. That's my theory anyway. I loop mine as far to the right as I can so that don't crash into the shield of the rat behind them. If that doesn't work, I snap them off in frustration and only give tails to the ones on the sides or in back. The new plague monks' tails caused me to weep openly in joy.

That and trying to paint 200 clanrat slave models. Easy way is to chop them, crop them or leave them off altogether. That's what i do for my slaves. If you prefer your tails intact, the best way is to allocate a rat to a specific space in his unit, assemble him to fit that space, then number each model under the base. Each time you rank up the rats will have their fixed places where they will fit in nicely. An easier way, simply get every rat on the sides and back to have their tails sticking out of the unit and out of the way of their neighbours. Then just crop tails short for the rats inside the unit, where no one will really be looking at them anyway. |

I used to overcome this problem by assembling the models, lining up the bases, gluing the models on the bases one by one. After that, just make sure you paint a number on the bottom of the base to remember in which order you put them. It's still a headache every time I set up for battle and all 60 of my clanrats are scrambled about my case (was this clanrat number 6 or number 9?).

Oh! I almost forgot! Magnetic bases help! Magnitize the bases, then arrange your clanrats / tails like the jigsaw puzzle they are on magnetic movement trays. Store the magnetic movement trays on an old cookie sheet! You'll never have to assemble a unit! Just pull it off the cookie sheet! My magnets are strong enough that I can carry the sheet vertically by an edge without losing any models. |

you can get magnetic sheets like the type used for fridge magnets at certain hardware or office supplies stores. They can be cut with an exacto knife and fit perfectly under the bases

Use the magnetic sheets Scriv mentioned for the base, or sheet metal if you have a way to buy/cut it. For the magnets, I bought rare earth magnets from AmazingMagnets.com ... they are indeed amazing. I don't remember the size offhand but it's cylindrical, about the size of a typical pain reliever tablet. They are freakishly strong. |

Well I simply arrange my entire units so they rank up properly. The front rank are at the very front of their bases, the second rank the same, with all the smaller tails. The ones on the back ranks have the huge ones with the knifes, while the fronter ones have the coiled up and little ones, which don't take up much space. Try gently heating the tails with an adjustable soldering iron and bending them. |
