Ideas for my themed army

To start with, I will just say that this is for an army that will not be started until the summer in any real way, but i might do a few ideas if they really grab my imagination.

I guess I should 'introduce' myself being new.

I am currently collecting a dwarf army that is themed around a hold near to Hell pit. It will have a few skaven conversions, and it is themed on an 'Army on a Mission', to wipe out all the skaven infesting the lower levels.

Once I have painted everything I have (only about 1500-2000 points), I thought it would be nice to collect an equally sized skaven army themed vica-versa.
Anyway, the only things I have so far are a mini diorama rat ogre v slayer combat (pics to follow here soon), plus the remains of the moulder plastics (yet to be painted). Also a skaven slave I sculpted.

What I am looking for is some ideas for conversions and general themes for the army. A Moulder heavy list is obvious, but I also love plague monks so will have to have some of them. I am a decent sculptor, and I can scratch sculpt models where needed, so suggest whatever you want. So specifically themed to be fighting against Dwarfs in a decades long campaign underground.
I always have a FW CHAOS DWARF HELLSMITH or two for sale. PM me if you're interested.

I am not here to be nice.
Well, welcome then! :D

Your ideas sounds kinda cool... And you say that you can scratch build models? That's is REALLY cool, I want to see pic's!

I think converted giant rats would be cool for an Hell pit army, since I (myself) thinks the current giant rats doesn't do the fluff for them justice. Convert some Rat ogres too, they are sooooo cool with many arms/legs/heads! :P

It would be cool to see your dwarf army too, since it is based around hell pit! (An odd thought, since both orcs, goblins and skaven infest the most parts of those mountains! )
We are living on this world on rented time and now we can't pay the rent
We have thrown out our garbage into the corridor and we have clogged the toilet
We have annoyed the neighbors and we have pissed off the landlord
We have stolen all the wares from the nature and we have poisoned our veins with greed
We have powered our hearts with a false promise that we aren't so bad and we have told ourself that everything happens for reason
We say that we will be forgiven and that all we do will ok when we die
We do not deserve to be spared and we deserve to burn
For the anquish we have caused this world
We deserve to burn

Stupid place for dwarfs to put a hold, but they weren't put off by a few rats ... ^_^

The conversions involving skaven are very few to date as I have so few to work with. When I have a bit more cash I will get some clanrats and do some more adventurous conversions.

For those interested, this is where I will be updating as I do new stuff, it has links to all the things I have put up so far.

Hey Grimstonefire. I post on bugmans as well, as Durgrim ironbeard. ^_^

Nice idea and similar to one of the reasons I first started collecting skaven (so I could pit them against my dwarves in a campaign).

Now for your ideas, there was a White Dwarf a while ago that had a Hell Pit army list. Complete with crazy creatures and conversions. There might be something on the games workshop site! Could be worth a look.

If not I suggest you make a chimairat. Thats one of the Moudler beasties. A giant rat that tunnels. You could make a great dioramma of slayers fighting one in tunnels, as it bursts through the wall. ^_^

Good idea actually. If I do it carefully it could be part of a slayer unit (perhaps ironbreakers), or a Chimerat for my skaven army.

I just thought of a conversion I might do actually, a leaping skaven assassin (based on that cool artwork), behind a dwarf thane. All one one 20mm base.

Yeah. Just have the model of the chimairat coming through the wal, but intact on the other side. (ifyou know what i mean?). The slayers, or ironbreakers could just sit in slots in the scenery! :)

Here is the mini diorama rat ogre I mentionned. Details to notice are the dead slayer holding the rats tail, the axe/ arrow in the RO back to show how the slayer got up there, and the rune writing on the stone which says Mine 13. Unlucky for some...

Also my skaven slave I sculpted for something I am involved in, but will hopefully find his way to the army.

Very nice diorama. Great attention to detail and good greenstuff work.
Did you get the idea for chocking the rat ogre with a chain from the Gotrek and Felix novels? :)

The skaven slave is great. Exactly how I imagine them to look. I particularly like the whip marks on his back. :D
Are you going to give him a weapon?
If you do, something very basic like a stick, or a cudgel of some sort would be appropriate I think.

About the theme the traditional big three tunnel fighting troops for skaven are :globe: Poisoned Wind Globes ^Warpfire^ Warpfire Thrower :rogre: Rat Ogres. I'd be tempted to use more of the Skaven Elite as well I hope that helps.
Probably the eternal story. Boy sees alien, alien sees food. Boy objects, alien takes offense.

Here he is painted.

I have done a few more skaven themed warriors, and will take some pics when I can as they have come out nice.

Im vastly impressed Grimstonefire.
Very well painted. I especially like the warpstone on the rat ogres flesh.
The slayers are great too. Nice gore on the axes.

The only thing I could possibly criticise is that the slayer chocking the rat ogre seems to only have one hand on the chain. I cant see how he's keeping the other end taught. I may just be missing something, due to not seeing it on one of the pictures though.

Great stuff and I look forward to seeing some more of your work.
Im looking forward to seeing the tunnel dioramma. ^_^
