and the skinks actually rank up nicely. I'll have to do some research to figure out how to make skinks look sickly... maybe a trip to the pet store and look at a "caring for reptiles" book.

At my work we have a bunch of reptiles, including two male turtles that share a pond. Anyhow, one of the males turtles has been a bit "in teh mood" lately and was desperately trying to mount the other turtle. This all happened at night when we weren't at work. When we came in Poor edward looked like he'd gotten jumped by a bunch of Hell's Angels. He had two black eyes (purplish tone, just like a human) and deep gashes all over his neck, but since he is in the water there was no blood. Just ripped flesh.

Another common issue for reptiles in captivity is characterized by a pinkish hue developing on their bellies. This comes from not changing their cage often enough.

And if they aren't getting the proper diet our turtles colors fade a bit. In fact, Edward's shell is mostly white on the front edge. Poor soul. He's getting better. I promise.

Oh! and don't forget that reptiles shed their skin regularly. Nothing makes them look sicker than when they are having a bad shed. This could be modeled by painting most of them toned down with only a few spots thier usual bright colors. And if you sould somehow figure out how to model their flaky, shedding skin... Ideas anyone?

Now go make some sickly looking reptiles!

More grey every day.
Excellent information! Thank you!

I'll probably paint them in several stages of health. One or two will be healthy, a few will be faded colors, and I think I'll try two with a bad shed. That sounds like a fun conversion.
So old. So so old.

real skin?

Okay a serious answer... You could put a thin (VERY thin) layer of green stuff on the areas that are shedding (where the "limbs" are breaking out)

I'd do the skin by carefully layering a little glue and letting it peal, or that craft store crackle paint. You would have to experiment a bit but I used the paint and made real nice mud effects on bases with it.

They probebly do sell br referance (I actually have no idea ^_^ ) but if not those other ones wouldn't be so bad for bits. You can always use an extra limb or two at the base of your RO's ;)

Talking about snotlings..... How many do you think i should put in a 20X20 base so it looks fine? I was thinking about 3 minis per base... Less looks empty and more is a bit expensive.

Ajax = warpstone juice

All I ask is if you want to show off pictures of models you make some effort... imageshack allows you to upload images via urls. nice and simple took me 3 seconds.

Its just easier for us councilrats if ebay links aren't used at all. That way we dont have to go well that one was ok cause it was blah blah... etc you make one expection aka You give a mouse a cookie and...

Maybe closing the other one was too fast but I didnt think of the idea at the time.

What about some nurglings or plaguebearers as slaves?

Diseased + mutated = perfect! Maybe a human or skaven head swap for a lot to make them less daemonic. Painted to look more like mutated skin I think a few of these mixed in would be great.

Another idea is a nurgling for a head on a slave, or skaven tails on nurglings. T

Throts been having fun! ;)
I always have a FW CHAOS DWARF HELLSMITH or two for sale. PM me if you're interested.

Fanskaven,

I've was having that dilemma with my GR's, but here is my problem and solution:

What I've been doing with Giant Rats is using a mix of the rats in the plastic PM box and the old metal ones, which are a bit larger and more expensive. The plastic rats are so small (like snotlings) comparatively that the bases looked empty. I started filling in every other base with two plastic rats, but that still looked sparse, not to mention very uniform and unappealing. Then I started putting small stones on the bases, which really filled them out nicely. But it looked so uniform still. So the third thing I did was to add old shields and hacked apart weapons to the bases. WhenI did this I realized that one small plastic rat could fill out a base just fine.

I'd suggest trying that out for at least a few of your snotling bases. It'll help your minis spread farther, and it makes it look like your slaves have overrun many an opposing unit.

Good luck.
