As I was reading some of the special characters some people had made I decided to give this a try.... however i started a bit differently. As i love clan Skyre I decided on a Warlock Engineer and so before starting on a character so to speak I started on a special Device he may have and i just wanted peoples opinions for what I have started (I started like 20 minutes ago on this) and this is in no ways yet a completed thing. Warpstone Mortor d3 shots 3d6 distance + Scatter 1/2 str Artillery die d3 wounds uses small inpact maker Rules The warpstone mortor fires d3 shots. Roll for each shot individually. Each shot moves 3d6 inches in a random direction (only in 180 degree angle forwards, reversing arrow as needed). Any model touched by the maker takes 1/2 Artillery str hits. Amour saves = as str -1 (total of -3) Flaming shots When Rolling on the scatter die for each shot if rolled Hit then it is the same as rolling 1-2 on the misfire chart. Any misfires rolled, rolls on the table below Misfire chart 1-2 The shot flies strait up into the air, and what comes up must come down..... landing on (name). (no more shots are fired) 3-4 The shot gets stuck in the barrel of the Mortor and explodes leaving green warpflames and debise, place small maker over the model and any model caught suffers a single str 5 hit, however if (name) survives with his Intuition save he is unaffected from this and is moved to the edge of the maker towards the nearest friendly unit. 5-6 The Mortor falls over in a random direction and fires forward at full strength at the maximum distance (18") firing like a warp lightning cannon, which cannot fire though obsticles, determin the direction of the remaining shots with a scatter dice. (all firing in different directions as each shot fires moves the Mortor) Hope you like it. |

its a really good idea but you have so many variables and dice rolls needed. motars fire way way far and yours reaches 18" which i understand there is a difference in technology between a WW2 trooper and a skaven but its warp stone and magic!!! he needs longer range i think apart from that its pretty much perfect. althougth best to wait for other opinions first i think. nice, unstable, Skryre, i love it... range could get better... is it 3d6" and then deviate with scatter (like stone thrower) or is the entire shot fired in the dirction indicated by the scatter?? |

How you would fire would be like this: roll 1 d3 for number of shots. roll scatter, artillery and 3d6 for distance of the first shot, place marker. If no misfire then continue with shot 2 and so... Then do casualties at the end or between each shot whatever is easier. Also I thought 18" was about the right distance being fair and also being completely random as like all skyre inventions and this weapon is also a prototype made by the carrier so its not goining to be as good as a WLC or ratling gun but a bit better than a normal gun and as it his mutiple targets (could hit that is) i think the distance is fair. But still Its not finished ![]() |

Nice, like the rules the ammendments seem ok. However...i personnally dont like the idea of a high trajectory Mortar. As most Skaven weapons will be tested undeground and probably in confined spaces, a high trajectory weapon like a mortar would likely cause a cave in, as would be of limited use in a tunnel network. (Razzik agree... most Skaven fights agaist other Skaven, Dwarf things or Nght Goblin erm things...) I admit it could be used in some large caverns or only brought to the surface to be used. A more likely development would a low 'ratjectory' weapon such as a Warpstone Bazooka type weapon.. Maybe acts as a cannon for firing but with say a blast template instead of bouncing through ranks. I wouldnt mind playing agaist either in any case. |
