I want to clarify a rule here.... 'Life is cheap' allows skaven to fire into combats between friendly units and enemy units.... Does this apply to allies too? So, say I'm having a 2v1 battle, Me and a friend versus someone else.... ...My ally charges/is charged, and ends up in a hopeless combat, but they hold for one turn... Can I then decide to turn a warpfire thrower on the combat? I'm in danger of hitting my ally's unit, but I guess they count as 'friendly units'.... ? |

It says Friendly Unit, not Skaven unit, so I assume that you can. Now the question is will your ally appreciate you doing it?

Given Skaven nature, it is very likely your ally will at this point decide you are trying to backstab him, and the battle will devolve into a three-way affair. Still, it's in character to do and I don't think the rules forbid it. Just be aware of the possible consequences. |

"I have a post-Armageddon vision. We and all other large animals are gone. Rodents emerge as the ultimate post-human scavengers. They gnaw their way through New York, London and Tokyo... within 5 million years, a whole range of new species replace the ones we know. Herds of giant grazing rats are stalked by sabre-toothed predatory rats. Given enough time, will a species of intelligent, cultivated rats emerge?" Richard Dawkins, The Ancestor's Tale | |||

An ally of a Skaven should know the consequences, so I'd say, you can shoot at them. |

People don't want to ally with me anymore, due to overabuse of their army ![]() Firing at them, using them as a screen, not offering support in a tough combat, fleeing from the enemy so they redirect in my ally, and the list goes on

I agree with all of the above. It's in character, it would be funny, but your opponents would them team you and you'd never have an ally again ![]() Pillz |

In a multiplayer Skaven civil war battle I encouraged my Dark Elf ally to engage the opposing skaven army (including his general with 42 clanrats) and unleashed plague into the combat. The plague spread through several enemy skaven/DE combats. This was after the warp lightning and before the warpfire throwers... We have not allied since. |

The only time others will ally with me is if they absolutely have to, such as mega-battles in campaigns where it's evil vs good, etc. Very rarely do I get invited to one-off multi-player games. The lesser races are only truly useful as fodder for the Master Race anyway. Any player who wants to ally with a Skaven army should realize this and not retaliate when the rat general unleashes his "master plan." |

Skaven should be teamed up with, if you care for the risks. But if don't like the risks, do think about teamoing up with them. The enemy needs many tough units to beat off skaven troops, because there's so many. The worst thing I ever tried by allying myself to a skecen was the almost critical wounds on my TK with DoE and the near fatal massacre of my HLP. He only had 1 wound after I was hit by a misfire from a skeven artillery piece.... after that I went against him the next time and made him beg for mercy. I stopped using TK and took to the Daemons for pleasruable killings

At Games Day 2004 I teamed up in a 10-12,000 point 'Good vs. Evil' game but because I was invited last and there was only room on the good side, that's where I went. I've always considered Skaven 'amoral' rather than traditionally 'evil' and more a force to themselves...but it was awkward to be fighting alongside dwarves, high-and-wood elves, and empire. The good guys seemed to get a real kick out of having Skaven on their side and my army was one of the few that actually advanced in the game...namely to create a 'machine gun nest' in a mid-table forest. All the guys looked after me though...wood elf player summoned a forest infront of my enemies to slow them down and the high elf and dwarf players covered my vulnerable flanks...it was a real novelty for them I think. Lucky for them there wasn't enough time to get to massed melee when their affections towards me would likely go through a change
