hi all. now that ive got a massive 750 points of hell pit ( ) i decided that i'd get some games in, get some more rat ogres and giant rats, and then convert a big beastie. i looked at the gw ones, the burrowing beastie ( i liked) the chimerat (not so great) and realised that i wanted to make myown, and not their versions.but how? i've had ideas for both. ill start with the chimerat first *a giant squig, captured, various attachments (warpfirethrowers) , a banner stuck in its head, a packmaster riding it. (this one would be insanely hard, but would rock) *a dragon, in the same kind of way as the GW chimerat, with tattered wings and lots of rat ogre heads in place of its own one (easier, and would als look cool) the dragon would be converted to look like a tattered half rat, while the squig would be growing tufts of fur and maybe have fangs, and rat like feet now the burrowing beast *a mad, taller rat ogre type thing with torches for eyes and 6 limbs (2 back feet, 4 drills) this would be hilarious to make now i wanna know if you guys have any other ideas for a burrowing beastie or chimerat that u arnt using for your own, as these could be really hard. |

While I haven't made plans for a Hell Pit list, I have given some thought to these conversions: Hydrat - A Chaos Dragon conversion of some type seems logical. Its body already is wracked with ruinous scars and has room for two 'trunks' to mount the heads upon. I agree that it would be an easier (or at least less time-consuming) conversion, complete with pre-tattered wings. All you'd need would be some green stuff to fill in some random patches of fur and Rat Ogre heads. Burrowing Beast - I think the Wyvern body was used in the WD article, with a healthy amount of green stuff used to reshape the head. I would use this same approach; however I would not put big spikes on the back of a burrowing animal. Given its size and difficulty to bring down, I can't see any reason why it couldn't be covered in plates like an armadillo, or even hairless and looking like a large mole, with a 'sensor' nose. Just some ideas not currently being put to use . . . |

i think that you should feel free to creatively reinterpret the chimaerat and tunneling beast when modelling then, and tailor them to the theme of your army the chimaerat is basically a big warpfire breathing rat gribbly with lots of A and W, and the burrowing beast is a US8 gribbly, and youre not forced to use the tunneling rules at all... so anything your twisted mind came come up with that fills at least a 50mm base decently is game id urge using the the Caller's mount from Necromunda, which is a giant skeletal rat with some flayed flesh (much larger than nuglitch's mount, think griffon-sized) for a burrowing beast |

Aye, The Caller's mount for a Behemoth for me. For the Chimrat, two new ideas: Use the classic Chimera with plastic Rat Ogre heads. http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/st...9044&orignav=13 A Rat-Elephant with a howda on its back (as described in Beastslayer). The howda would be full of Clanrats, with a Warpfire Thrower on the front of the howda. |

Your converted Caller's Beast is awesome! That is similar to what I have planned. I especially liked the engine you added to its back and the digging claw. I had planned on using GW's Chimera w/ RO head swap for my Chimerat. However, I really don't want to pay the international shipping so I am looking into chimeras from other manufacturers. |

I leave for a little while and all my questions are answered . . . About the Mole, I mean. That's one helluva job, z. I like that you buried the warpstone generator in its side so deeply. It gives the feel that the Mole has had the thing strapped to its side for months and just grew around it. Also, it fits in with your Rat Ogres with the large generators on their backs (nice job on those too, by the way.) From the look of them, I'd be curious to find out what sort of bulk discount your Master Moulder is getting from Skyre for those warp generators . . . All very nice! Please take a group photo of this bunch once they're painted. |
