Hi all, I've got a big problem with my growing skaven army. as you know clan rat regimnets are usually in units of 25-30 rats. I can not find move trays big enough to hold all my clan rats. where do you get move trays? do GW make big enough trays? |

their trays are not big enough. Either take the 5*4 ones and let your last rank out of the tray, or make some custom trays yourself. I've had rather bad results when I tried with cereal boxes, but at least they held the models (the edges were really ugly). |

For a unit of 25, you can stick two of the small trays together, back to back, and fit 25 nicely. You just have to square them a little for a good fit. For anything else, you have to make the trays yourself. Personally, I glue magnets under the models base and use sheet metal in the bottom of the trays (which I extend to support the sheet metal) glued with epoxy. With good neodymium magnets (I use 1/4 x 1/8 x 1/16) you can hold a unit of metal stormvermin upside down. (but don't shake them too much. )You can buy extra movement trays and cut lengths off them to extend your current trays. Works well and the metal (and models) hides the joint. If you decorate the edges also, it looks like just one big tray. |

The GW trays are actually pretty well-sized (I use them), but they are SLIGHTLY too small. You could make your own out of cardstock or wood... also effective... Pillz |

http://img354.imageshack.us/img354/7349/skavenhorde6jj.jpg Yeti's suggestion is good and what I do is rather similar: I cut out a square or rectangle of sheet metal the size that the unit will be at its largest, and then glue that sheet of metal to a sheet of thin balsa wood, like a quarter-centimeter or similar to the thickness of the GW plastic trays. I set something on it to press while it dries, and when it's done I cut it out, leaving about a centimeter of the wood on all sides. Then I take plaster and build it up in the space between the balsa wood and metal, spray the whole thing black, and paint/flock the plaster to match the bases of my army. You can then take a roll of cheap magnets...I use the rubbery refrigerator-magnet kind (won't hold your stormvermin upside down but keeps them from falling when you move the tray or in transport :)) You can get it in a big roll and snip it with some scissors so that it will fit in your bases. Sounds a bit complicated starting from scratch but it didn't take me long at all to do and I have no experience in that sort of thing. Here is a pic of what they look like completed, I went ahead and stuck some pumice stones in the plastered edges while they were still wet. ![]() |

G/W now do a regiment tray pack (has 4 trays) which hold 20 Black orcs/Chaos warriors OR 25 Skaven clanrats (5x5) or models with a similar base size. These are available thro mail order (in the uk anyway) dont know if this helps..... |

yeah, those are the new "GW textured trays" 4 of those cost the same thing as 4 big trays and 4 small trays. I'll stick with my 8 trays. |

What I do for my 30 strong units is glue a typical regiment base together with a smaller one (both available in that GW regiment bases pack) and even though there is a little bit of room at the back, it generally nicely fits in 30 Skaven Entaro Adun |

I have bought two packages of the new textured bases, and am loving it Not only does it look very cool, it can hold 25 clanrats, the ideal number for 2-3000 points in my opinion And for all you idiots who stubbornly like me keep using cavalry the wrong way, you can also put 4×2 cavalry bases in them |

that was EXACTLY what I was saying: same price. The textured ones can hold an extra rank, but then you don't have the small trays. |
