Hi all, I looked back through my Plague monk sprues the other day looking for some conversion parts and was wondering what those sticks are on the sprue, the ones which you see in the pictures which can be used instead of a additional hand weapon. i apoligise if this has already been asked by someone (i dont think it has) but i cant find anywhere what they are exactly, are they just Additional Hand weaps or what?

Thanks in advance

I don't have the sprue, but I think they are just additional hand weapons. The older plague monks have sticks as second weapons, so I think these can, too...

Yeah, I play witht he old pewter monks.

The can be compared to psychotic old geezers.

You can imagine what a cane thrashing can do to you, so imagine getting hit with club-like staffs.

Who knows. Maybe you can use them to deliniate between plague monks a puss bags or rotten rodents, etc.

I personaly use arms with swords in each hand for my plague monks with additional hand weapons.
I just thought that the staff's were to make them look monk like. So a plague monk with a sword in his right hand and staff in his left hand would count as a non-upgraded plague monk.
I realise that almost everyone gives them the additional hand weapon, but some may not.

Maybe they could be converted to be used as flails. Now thats a thing worth thinking about. :)

Yep, the staff is really just there since the old metal ones had staves too. It can be an additional handweapon, or you can use it to as an "empty" hand to differentiate from the knife hands as add h/ws, or you can use it as converted flail handles (like someone here did). They're really just there to look cool, though, since they do add some extra decoration and height to your unit if you stick the strips of banners onto them.

They just count as aditional hand weapons sadly... I think it would be so cool if they added +1 strength or something... It would make monks more interesting, and especially for Bubonic court would make them a more versatile army... I was so dissapointed when I found out they did nothing :(

ahh my freind that is where im afraid you are wrong, they make the plague monks look extra cool and monk-like (that is a word i swear  ) so in a way they do something after all, horray for loopholes ^_^

Not quite what I had in mind

But you are right! Those staves look absolutely fantastic! I equipped my first 20 Monks with them just because I like their look so much. It may not make them look quite so frenzied, but I like the thought of fighting with a staff-type thing... But I stand by my point that they should have a different rule... It would make them more fun... :)

Quiet, I'm plotting.

I have about 25 old metal Plague Monk models in my army. I have always thought that the Plague Monks would only whip themselves into a Frenzy for battles, the rest of the time they would be relatively normal Skaven. But their bodies would be so filled with diseases that they would normally need the staff to help them walk. This staff, in battle, becomes a useful extra hand weapon.

Thats why I think they have a staff.

GW, sucking the fun out of the hobby since 1999.

Never worry. Worst case scenario you die, and then there was no point worrying anyways.

also for the pontifex on cauldren conversion if you were to get round to it, still they look nice on the monks on a unit, if only a little static as far as their pose goes ^_^
