Quiet, I'm plotting.

I've only gone Slaves with slings in a couple of battles.

One was a big battle, around 10 000 points, and the slaves with slings were in there as a kind of amusment to myself. Although they did get charged by a regiment that had taken heavy casualties (30 gobbos i think, mushed down to 12 or so) and stood and shot. They managed to kill a few gobbos and I think the gobbos ran off.

In most battles, I would relegate them to the 'useless waste of points' catagory. They are really only good for a laugh. Especially when they let fly and actually hit something.

Double the points of unit, just to fire useless missile weapons with BS 2? I pass on that option.

Their basically a waste of valuable points
Stick 'em wiv arrers. Stick 'em wiv knives, and spears. Stick 'em where it 'urts. But most of all, stick 'em when they's looking the other way

As stated before, slaves are there to die. At least I use them in ways that pretty much ensures their demise. "Just hold 'em off a few more seconds..." I never give them any equipment because of this. I do give them a musician though.

I still wouldn't use slings on slaves in a siege either. Spend the extra points to get NR w/ slings if you want. Personally, I wouldn't use eihter and just put more CR on the walls.

Someday I'd like to field multiple slave units armed with slings... proxied, of course, as I could never get that many sling models together.

I'd like to intersperse them with large (20-strong) nightrunner units, also armed with slings, and run (well, walk) the nightrunners around enemy units.

The idea of picking up 40 dice and saying "6s to hit" for each of 6-8 units appeals to the 'experimenter' in me ;)

However, when all is said and done, I dont think they are good value for points (compared to their value in their usual role).
Mostly harmless
