ratwolves 7 points per model m9 ws3 bs0 s3(4) t3 w1 i4 a1(2) ld5 unit size: 5-15 equipment: claws and teeth special rules: rabid frenzy, stubborn, may not be joined by characters, may not use the general's leadership rabid frenzy: the unit is frenzied. In addition to having +1a, while frenzied the ratwolves also gain +1s. stubborn: the ratwolves never give up a chase and as such are stubborn. another take on the infamous rabid rat-wolf packs of clan moulder. The rat-wolves are vicious bloodthirsty creatures that hunt in packs. The pack cannot be too big, however, as infighting will start amongst the ratwolves. Once they have your scent it is said nothing can stop them unless you turn and manage to beat them off. If you run, they will always run you down and catch you... if you dont like it, its because im bored and not sober and waiting for matt to get here. bleh. |

Instead of stubborn let them pursue an extra D6 (making it 4d6!) i'd also reduce their Movement to 8 or 7 |

I agree about nthe stubborness, maybe make them frenzied to reresent the rabidness? I dunno! But the rest seems fine, and I'd keep the movement 9". Gobbo wolves get a 9" more afterall. James |

they already are frenzied (RABID frenzied actually) and the stubborn is balanced out by ld5 (and no general), really. It just shows that they're doggedly after their prey but can still be beaten off fairly easily movement is staying at 9. dire wolves are m9, gobbo wolves are m9, so rat wolves are also m9. |

Personally, I'd increase the M to 10. A bit much some would say, but remember, Skaven also have +1 movement when compared to the race many believed they were mutated from, that being humans. Wouldn't it be logical that the wolves[I'm assuming mutant wolves from the Gobbo tribes] would have +1 movement? Otherwise, me likey much. |

Are they Fast cav/skirmishers? Do they get rank bonuses? Do they get more LD from ranks? I think some kind of Blood Greed rule is in place here. They always pursue and if they slay all of the opponents they cannot overrun. They EAT. Some people feel that no Skaven stuff should have more then 6 move. I think these ones are pretty nice. I would say move 9, throw 4 dice to purpue and choose the 3 highest. They are pretty fragile though with only a 6+ save due to the cavalry base. But then again that might be the way they should be. And well if skaven heroes get the option to be on a ratwolf then they can join, but i doubt that. |

no save. think direwolves, but frenzied and they're alive. I figured m9 was more than fast enough. The only m10 ground units are things like tyrion's horse or steeds of slaanesh. You can only run so fast. as to the blood greed, i guess that would also be covered under frenzy (they must overrun/pursue a defeated enemy). ratwolves cant be joined by characters so i dont see why one would be mounted. remember, these are vicious bloodthirsty killing machines intent on bringing down their prey. No skaven would want to ride a rabid dog, with the possible exception of Nurglitch. |

wolves are not vampires, but wolves. what do you mean by that? IF YOU read the old skaven rule book you will hear about ratwolves, about playing with them, thats another matter. I like ratphinks idea, it makes them less wolf, but maby to powerfull. I would also drop the stubborn and make them more skaven like. not a powerfull unit, but a flanking unit. |

*nods*... I agree with nagash on this one. With stubborn, you'd be making something of a second rat swarm unit. If you'd drop the stubborn, you'd create a very hard-hitting flanking unit, which is IMHO the better place for a unit like Rat Wolves. Greetz |
