This took me forver to write, so you'd better appreciate it.

Disclaimer: When writing this, I found that not all of the events recorded match with each other. I tried to compromise as best as I could.

Enjoy!

HISTORY OF THE WARHAMMER WORLD

In the beginning, the Warhammer World was peaceful, undisturbed by war. Its inhabitants were primitive, and did not expand. The world was carefree, and all was well. But it was not to last.

In the year –15000 by the Imperial calendar, The Old Ones arrived in this unspoiled world from places far distant, along with their servants, the Lizardmen. Foremost among these servants were the Slann, powerful mages taught by the Old Ones themselves.

After establishing themselves, these supremely powerful beings set about guiding the Elves and Dwarfs, expanding there civilizations and making them great. At the ends of the Earth they built Gates, to make the Old Ones travel between worlds easier. These gates opened into pathways that led through the Warp, the Aethyr, the Realm of Chaos. These pathways were well protected, however, and almost completely safe.

Thousands of years later, -5600 by the Imperial calendar, these mighty gates collapsed, thus spilling the power of Chaos into the world. The Winds of Magic emerged from the Warped gates, tainting the once peaceful world. The sudden burst of Chaos did something to the old Ones, either killing them or making them flee, leaving the world to the other races to defend. the Old Ones failed to take the Lizardmen with them, however, and these cold-blooded beings became on of the staunchest opponents of Chaos.

Ulthuan, lying on a magical fault line, was very vulnerable. Countless Elves died when Chaos was unleashed unto this world. The island might have been doomed was not for the High Elf hero Aenarion. He walked into the Flames of Asuryan and came out unscathed. These flames would have killed an ordinary elf, but Aenarion was reborn from the flames. He became an undefeatable warrior. He retrieved the Sword called Widowmaker from the Blighted Isle, and it gave him awesome power, but at a price. The Sword slowly took control of him, making him ever more bloodthirsty. He smashed aside the armies of Chaos, and Chaos withdrew back from whence it came. For his valor, he was named the first Phoenix King.

Following this came an age of peace. The Empire of the Dwarfs expanded to the East and the World’s Edge Mountains. The High Elves, meanwhile, began increasing their defenses, preparing for another incursion.

And so it came. Chaos was unleashed upon the world again. Aenarion wanted to fight again, but Caledor Dragontamer suggested that they build a vortex to drain Chaos Magic, and purify it. Thus, the Vortex was made. From this vortex flowed the eight winds of magic, now able to be safely used. By now Aenarion was just a sword arm, a pawn of Khaine. after Chaos had been thrown back, he weakened from a deadly wound, not able to be healed, even by magic. He went back to the Isle where he had found Widowmaker, and drove the cursed sword back into the altar of Khaine. He was too late, however. He had already been tainted, and his child by Morathi, Malekith, had been tainted as well. Aenarion soon died.

The Dwarfs in the East lost contact with there brethren in the mountains, and soon Chaos was upon them, twisting them. These Eastern Dwarfs then began to call themselves the Dawi-zharr. They began to change from the rest of the Dwarfen race. While still keeping some Dwarfen principles, such as respect for age, others were abolished. The Dwarf Ancestor Gods were abandoned by these Dwarfs of Chaos. They began to worship their own sorcerous god, Hashut.

After Chaos had been driven back yet again, there was an age of peace. The Dwarfs and High Elves met, and began to trade, and both civilizations benefited greatly from this.

But Aenarion’s sole son was bitter. he had been passed over as the new Phoenix King, and he began traveling, searching for dark secrets. When he returned to Ulthuan, he began attacking the Cult of Pleasure, a way in which Slaanesh had taken root in Ulthuan. The Cult was headed by his own mother, Morathi. Malekith accused many people of being part of the Cult, many falsely, and they were executed. Then Malekith accused the Phoenix King, Bel-Shanaar, of being a member of the Slaaneshi Cult. The King was assassinated, as Malekith knew the High Elf court would not believe him (and rightly so, as the king had naught to do with it). Malekith then began a war against Ulthuan, backed by the might of Nagarythe, an area of Ulthuan, and the Cult of Pleasure. Then Malekith attempted to destroy the Vortex, and failed, resulting in parts of Ulthuan, including Nagarythe, to sink below the waves of the sea. Malekith then tried to prove that he was the rightful king. He stepped into the flames of Asuryan, as Aenarion had done, but the Flames would not accept his Chaos-tainted body. He was cast out of the flames terribly burned and barely alive. Morathi, his mother took him and fled to the land of Naggaroth, and then proceeded to nurse him back to health. Soon, the Dark Elves gave up worshipping Slaanech, and began worshipping Khaine.

It was around this time that the Chaos Dwarfs, or Dawi-zharr, founded their first and only great city in the Dark Lands: Zharr Naggrund. They also began enslaving other races. This became their main trade, and was the basis of their economy.

Elsewhere, South of the World’s Edge Mountains, the human civilization of Nehekhara flourished. Farther north, in what is now Tilea, the largest human city in the Old World also flourishes… Kavzar. In the land of Nehekhara, a child that will rise to infamy is born. Nagash.

In the year –1997 Dark Elves pretending to be High elves attacked a Dwarfen caravan. The Dwarfs believed it was High Elves that attacked the caravan, and thus the War of the Beard began. This halted the expansion of High Elves in the Old World. The War ended with the beard of Dwarf High King Gotrek Satrbreaker being cut off and the death of the current Phoenix King. The new King, Caladryel, recalls all High Elf colonists in the Old World. Some of these elves refused the summons, and go to live in the forest of Athel Loren, becoming the Wood Elves.

In the year –1968, The Priest-King of Khemri, Nagash, learned Dark Magic from Dark Elf prisoners. Nagash began work on a great Black Pyramid to channel his magical energies that he would need to gain immortality. They began terrorizing Nehekhara, raising long dead armies in a horrific attack.

Meanwhile, in the year –1880 by Imperial reckoning, the people of the prosperous city of Kavzar decide to build a Great Temple to thank the gods. They began this work in this year. One hundred years later, a stranger enters the city. He offers to complete the temple that night if he can add his own offering. The people of the city agree, as it was hard completing the temple. That night, the stranger entered the temple. The inhabitants slept as normal, until the stroke of midnight. A monstrous bell woke the inhabitants, and they ran into the center of the city. The temple is completed, and has a massive bell on top. It rings twelve times to the cheering of the people… then rings a thirteenth time. Then the skies stormed furiously, Morrslieb, the lesser moon, glowed, warpstone fell from the sky, and the people started dying. The Doom of Kavzar began.

In the year –1750, the Priest-Kings of Nehekhara united to fight against Nagash. This starts a one-hundred year war between Nagash and Nehekhara, which resulted in the exile of Nagash. Queen Neferate then discovered one of the tomes of Nagash, which conatined much of the lore or Necromancy. Thinking that she could succeed where the Supreme Lord of Undeath had failed, she created the Elikir of Blood, and gave it to her court, including, after a time, thye warrior Aborash. Fifty years after the end of the war, Nagash found Cripple Peak. He became changed due to exposure to Warpstone.

Meanwhile, Kavzar finally fell. The Skaven emerge from the ruins, a race of rat-men. They rename the city Skavenblight. One hundred years later, the Skaven try to master magic, resulting in monstrous waves of magic that caused earthquakes and other terrible things. This, in orchestration with the Lizardmen Slann finishing up shaping the world, cause devastating earthquakes in the World’s Edge Mountains, heralding the end of the Dwarf Empire of Karaz Ankor. The Orcs and goblins begin raiding and sacking Dwarf Strongholds. the Skaven, after the magical disaster, decide to spread out. One Clan travels to Lustria.

At this time, Nagash mastered the art of necromancy. He creates a realm of Undead from Cripple Peak. He called his Kingdom Nagashizzar. He began mining warpstone.

A year after Hell Pit was founded by Clan Moulder of the Skaven, the Skaven that journeyed to Lustria emerged as worshippers of Plague, and became Clan Pestilens. The Lizardmen, denizens of Lustria and Children of the Old Ones, retaliated against the Skaven attacking their land. Thus the war called the Serpent and the Rat began.

Ninety-nine years later, the Skaven claimed Cripple peak, home of Nagash. The War of Cripple Peak is fought. Afterwards, the Skaven Council of Thirteen made an uneasy alliance with Nagash. In –1163, Nagash attacked Nehekhara. He was driven back. Soon after, he unleashed a plague upon his former homeland. He returned, capturing the current king of the land, Alcadizaar. He then begans a great ritual. He tried to create the most massive Undead Kingdom ever. Once Nagash was weakened by his use of magic, the Skaven snuck the Fellblade to Alcadizaar and free him. Aladizaar went to Nagash’s throne room, and defeated the weakened Nagash in a duel. The Skaven then burned Nagash’s body and slew Alcadizaar. Unfortunately, one of Nagash’s hands was not burned and it escaped. The Skaven also failed to destroy Nagash’s Crown. A sorceror by the name of Kadon found the crown. Corrupted by its unholy power, he tried to start a kingdom of Undead, but the Orcs soon overthrew him. The Crown fell into the hands of the human tribes.

While this was going on, the Lahmian aristocrats, who had been ruling with terror, were driven out. The Vampires went there seperate ways.

Aborash, a powerful vampire warrior, went to the peak of an unknown mountain, and there slew a Dragon. After drinking its blood, he became an even mightier warrior. He formed the Vampire Bloodline known as the Blood Dragons.

Other Vampires settled in the land that was to be called Sylvania. They became the von Carseins.

Neferata founded the Silver Pinnacle and the Lahmian Blood Line.

W'Soran, another vampire, after fighting for Nagash against Khemri yet again, formed the Nechrarch bloodline.

Ushoran, Neferata's brother, founded a Vampire Empire south of the Border Princes called Strigos. They became powerful, and drank the blood only of those that deserved to die. The Strigoi bloodline, rulers of this Empire, sent out invitations to the other Bloodlines to live with them, but were refused.

Soon, the Vampire Empire of Strigos was toppled by Orcs and Goblins. Vorag, the King, fled and traveled back to Sylvania. He was forced to hide from the von Carsteins, appointed lords of their realm. Vorag made an alliance with the Ghouls, earning the name of the Ghoul King.

In Athel Loren, Orion and Ariel became rulers of the forest in –1125. Twenty-five years later, the forest was established as the Kingdom of the Wood Elves. Nearby, the Bretonni tribe of humans settles in the western Old World.

In –732, Naggaroth launched an attack on the Shadowlands in Ulthuan. It was repulsed, but the city of Anlec was destroyed, and the Altar of Khaine was toppled into the Sea.

Over 200 years later, Karak Eight Peaks, a Dwarf Stronghold, is attacked by Orcs and Skaven. As the Orcs and Dwarfs fought, the Skaven collapsed the mountain on them both, taking the city and renaming it the City of Pillars.

In the year of –150 by the Imperial calendar, the Black Orcs were created by the Chaos Dwarfs as a race of super-slaves. After 50 years of enslavement, the Orcs rebelled and ran to the World’s Edge Mountains, where they began to take many Orc Tribes over, becoming a dominant species of Orc.

Forty years before the Dawn of the Empire, a powerful being was reborn. Nagash was reincarnated, and he returned to Cripple Peak. The Skaven had inhabited the area, but the Master of Necromancy slew them all single-handedly. He then began to remake Nagashizzar, his Kingdom.

Ten years later, a babe named Sigmar is born to the Unberogen Tribe of Man. At age fifteen, he rescued the Dwarf High King Kurgan from a tribe of Orcs, forming an alliance between the Dwarfs and Humans. Seven years after this, Sigmar became the Chief of the Unberogens. Along with the Dwarfs, this tribe of Man began to drive the Orcs and Goblins away. One year before the foundation of the Empire, they succeeded The Orcs and Goblins had been driven east of the World’s Edge Mountains. Sigmar was then declared Emperor of a new civilization: The Empire.

Nagash then stirred from Cripple Peak to try and take his Crown back from the men of the Empire. He failed, and was killed by Sigmar. His second death.

Meanwhile, in Lustria, the War against the Skaven continued. At the same time the Empire was formed, the Prophecy of Sotek was found in the temple city of Chaqua. This prophecy stated that Sotek would come to the World and drive away the Rat-Spawn. The Slann at first didn’t believe that Sotek was real. They denounced him. The Cult of Sotek was then formed by the Skink Priest Tenehuini. They became the main opposition to Clan Pestilens.

In the Imperial year 50, the Empire was expanding and prospering. Sigmar then left the Empire, traveling East. He was never seen again.

Fifty years later, enough Skaven were killed to allow Sotek to enter the World. He then drove the Skaven Clan Pestilens from Lustria.

When Clan Pestilens arrived back in Skavenblight, they demanded a seat on the Council of Thirteen. This ignited the first Skaven Civil War.

In Naggaroth, Malekith attacked the Chaos Wastes, driving the Chaos Tribes away. He then built watchtowers between Naggoroth and the Chaos Wastes. In the year 451, Malekith allied with an Undead fleet. The two forces then began to mount massive raids on the Old World.

Beneath the Earth, the Skaven Clan Eshin returned to assist the Council of Thirteen in the Civil War. One hundred years later, the Council agrees to give Clan Pestilens a seat if their leader can defeat a current member on the Council. Nurglitch, Arch-Plaguelord of Clan Pestilens, won the battle. He was admitted onto the Council.

In 753, the Dark Elves sent ships to the Old World to bring back countless slaves, and ended the majority of massive raids there.

The Bretonni and Wood Elves clashed in the year 700. The Warlords of the Bretonni wanted to expand their realms into the Forest of Loren. A long conflict then began between the two forces.

In Lustria, the Vampire Luthor Harkon set foot on Lustrian shore. He then created an Undead Empire called the Vampire Coast.

Another man arrived 12 years later, in 888. His name was Losteriksson. The Norseman then established the town of Skeggi, which grew into a great port and a point where adventurers stop before adventuring in the jungle beyond.

The Bretonni had also had another problem besides the ongoing war with the denizens of Athel Loren. The Orcs and Goblins had returned, and were devastating the land. In 977, Gilles le Breton drove the Greenskins out of the land of the Bretonni. The Bretonni were united, and Gilles’ son Louis became the first King of Bretonnia. Four years after that, Louis the Rash made a peace with the Wood Elves.

Then came a year that brought horrible things to the Old World. The smaller moon of Morrslieb had been acting strangley, and in 1111 the Skaven unleashed the Black Plague upon the Old World. The Skaven emerged from beneath the Earth, and terrorized the Empire for 13 years. The Empire would have fallen if not for Mandred Skavenslayer, who drove the Skaven back. from Middenheim, the only city to not fall.

In 1125, the Dark Elves once again attacked the Shadowlands of Ulthuan, making it all the way to the Griffon Gate. It was besieged until the year 1146, when Mentheus lifted the siege. The Dark Elves withdrew.

The Skaven made an alliance with the Sultan Jaffar of Araby in 1448, and persuaded him to attack Estalia. A year later, the Bretonnian Crusades began as the Bretonnians attempted to defeat Araby. In the end, in 1451, Jaffar was defeated and overthrown and Estalia freed.

Estalia’s neighbor, Tilea, had raised a man known as Marco Colombo. In 1492, he sailed to Lustria and established relatively good relations with them. he later returned with tales of great wealth, and many treasure hunters journeyed to Lustria and Skeggi.

The year 1681 heralded the return of the Lord of the Undead, Nagash. On the night of the Third Incarnation of the Master of Necromancy, the dead rise from their graves all over the Old World, terrifying all.

In 1707, the Empire was, for the second time, almost destroyed. WAAAAAGH! Gorbad Ironclaw sacked every city in the Empire except its capital, Altdorf. He then moved into Bretonnia, and was driven back by the Knights of the Realm. The WAAAAAGH! power disappeared, and the Orcs retuned to the World’s Edge Mountains.

Seventy-nine years later, Clan Eshin brought the Red Pox to Bretonnia. By 1813, the Plague was unstoppable, and the Skaven rose once again, this time against Bretonnia. The Duke of Mousillon broke them, but was later denounced as a sick man, and slew the King in his walls. The Duke was overthrown, and much of its land given to the dukedom of Lyonesse.

Sixteen years before the second Skaven insursion, Vlad von Carstein officially declared himself the Count of Sylvania, becoming the first of the line of Vampire Counts.

The second Skaven Civil War started in 1850, after the Red Pox Clan Pestilens had created turned on its creators and other Skaven. It lasted over 400 years.

In 1979, the Empire is in anarchy. The Emperor has just died, and no new one has been chosen. The choice is forced upon the Empire in 2010, as the Vampire Wars begin against the Vampire Vlad von Carstein. In 2051, Vlad is killed in the Siege of Altdorf, ending the Vampire Wars.

During this time, Bretonnia had more troubles. A mighty Chaos fleet dedicated to the god Khorne descended upon the land, raiding and plundering and killing. They were defeated at the battle of Couronne.

Many years later, Konrad von Carstein become the Count of Sylvania. He attacked the empire again, returning to the Vampire Wars in 2094. he was defeated by an alliance of Dwarfs and Men 27 years later at the battle of Grim Moor.

Over ninety years later, the Errantry Wars of Bretonnia began. Their goal wes to rid the land of greenskins. This war was interrupted by Mousillon being once again ravaged by the Red Pox, forever cursing it. In addition, another mighty Chaos Incursion began in 2301. Chaos challenged the entire world, and was winning everywhere. In the New World, Malekith had allied with Chaos against the High Elves. Then, in 1303, Magnus the Pious drove back the Hordes of Chaos with the help of the Dwarfs, and was made Emperor.

After this, the Errantry Wars continued, only to end in 2488, when thousands of Knights were killed at Death Pass by the Orc Warlord Morglum Necksnapper.

While most civilizations were fighting Chaos, the Skaven still fought out their Civil War. then, in 2302, the entire order of grey Seers summoned the Horned Rat, the Skaven’s god. The Horned Rat said that while fighting each other was good, they must never be divided like this. The Civil War ended that day, and it became an official Skaven holiday, called Vermintide.

In the same year, Mannfred von Carstein invaded the Empire, starting the Winter War. When he reached Altdorf, the Grand Theogonist cast a spell that collapsed his forces, making them crumble to dust. He then tried to siege Marienburg, but was thwarted. The armies of the Empire and the Vampire Counts then began to chase each other, never sure of whom was winning. Mannfred was driven back to Sylvania and slain at the Battle of Hel Fenn.

In 2424, another Great WAAAAAGH! began. Grom the Paunch began to terrorize the Old World and Ulthuan, and was almost unstoppable. He invaded Ulthuan in 2424 and was finally defeated, ending the second Great WAAAAAGH!

Nine years later, the High Elves finally managed to successfully raid Naggaroth and established a colony, Arnheim, there.

In 2491, the mad Lichemaster Heinrich Kemmler found the tomb of Krell, a Chaos Warrior. Making a foul pact with the Dark Gods, Kemmler’s sanity was restored, and Krell was raised from the dead. Together, these two invaded Bretonnia, and sacked the abbey of La Maisotnaal. They were turned back by Skaven trerachery and Duc de Quenelles. 4 years later, the Lichemaster attempted to invade Bretonnia again, but the Wood Elves threw him back.

In 2500 and 2502, Bretonnia and the Empire got new rulers, respectively. Louen Leoncoeur became King of Bretonnia, and Karl Franz became Emperor of the Empire.

Azhag the slaughterer lead a third great WAAAAAGH! into the Northern Empire in 2512. He was killed at the Battle of Osterwald.

Then, around the year 2520, another Chaos Incursion begins, called the Storm of Chaos. It was fought around the entire world. Archaon, Lord f the End Times, attempted to destroy the City of Middenheim, but failed and was driven back. At the same time, Morathi, Malekith’s Mother, reveived the Cult of Pleasure, and attacked Lustria as Malekith attacked Ulthuan.

In Sylvania, the forces of Archaon’s Herald, Vardek Crom the Conqueror, woke the Vampire Counts from their rest. They plowed on threw the land, attacked by all manner of dead things. Mannfred von Carstein himself, believed to be dead, woke and made war upon the followers of Chaos. After the Storm, he turned towards the Empire yet again.

As the defenders of Middenheim fought against the besieging Horde of Archaon and Khazrak One-Eye, something went on beneath there feet. In an attempt to destroy the City of the White Wolf, a bomb was planted in the tunnels of the Ulricsberg by Warlock Engineer Shiva. Called ‘Project Supremacy,’ the bomb backfired, not destroying the city. It killed everything in the tunnels of the Ulricsberg, and melted the rock itself. Even now, it sits there, ticking away, lost in the catacombs. It is unknown when it will go off again.

The Storm finally ended when Valten, believed to be Sigmar reborn, drove Archaon away from Middenheim. This hero of the Empire was later found dead in his bed by Luthor Huss. It is believed that Deathmaster Snikch, Skaven Master Assassin killed him, but no-one is sure.

I am not here to be nice.
It could have been much longer if the full timeline of every race were in it. :P

Good work though! I'm printing it now (having problems with reading long texts on the computer <_< ).
We are living on this world on rented time and now we can't pay the rent
We have thrown out our garbage into the corridor and we have clogged the toilet
We have annoyed the neighbors and we have pissed off the landlord
We have stolen all the wares from the nature and we have poisoned our veins with greed
We have powered our hearts with a false promise that we aren't so bad and we have told ourself that everything happens for reason
We say that we will be forgiven and that all we do will ok when we die
We do not deserve to be spared and we deserve to burn
For the anquish we have caused this world
We deserve to burn

The Old Ones came along with their Lizardmen Servents? Is that all?

Do you mean to say that you have forgotten that the Lizardmen were the ones who fought against Chaos? Elves barely did anything when it comes to what the Lizardmen did.

Humph.

Humph.

Not what my sources say. The Lizardmen did do important things during that time, but it was the elves that saved the world.

And I edited it a bit too... just for you...

Thanks for the comments. but I have some responses:

1. I know I did not include much stuff about the formation of the Vampires, but I instead summed it up in a few short sentences. I still do have some inaccuracies in there, it's true.

2. About the Lizardmen: My sources say that the Old Ones created the Lizardmen, but before they came to the Warhammer World.

And also: Read the disclaimer.

I am too lazy to edit the VC stuff now... but thanks for pointing that out.

'zodi

MUTATE: I edited the Vampire stuff... there are still inaccuracies, and the dates aren't right... but I tried. The sources all give you different dates. :P
