I was thinking of converting my skaven army into a eshin army, but without the all skirmish under cover of darkness think. mainly because my army already has an asian theme.

There would be some less models due to expencive characters but i will have an awsome LD (8 on master assassin and 7 on sorcerers) and access to the triad.
The magic phase would be pretty different too but i kind of like the more tactical part in skitterleep. With a fellblade assassin the magic would be a real threat.

So,what do you think could non skirmish eshin work propery?
Anyone with some experience?

i can see that working, becuase eshin is meant 2 be a skirmishing army, so if you take that away frim them... its kinda like taking the warpstone out of WLC

If you go for non-skirmish, it plays almost like a regular skaven army, but you lose some of the horde aspects of it, cus you have to take night runners as mainstay, but it does work if you play it right

You said an Asian theme? is this to do with Eshin returning from the East? well I don't see why this should make in any less skirmishy, but if you are happy playing it then good for you.

That could keep your opponent on his toes, thinking he's going againced a Warlord army then suddenly a Master Assassin comes out of nowhere.

Me and Decker once made an army-list based on that idea.

If you like a 'warlord horde army'.. this is the way to go.
The fact that you have a very cheap Ld7 general who can carry dispel scrolls is worth it alone.
On top of that, you have smaller and cheaper mainstay units.
Who needs a warlord anyway?

fun or worthless you ask? Fun (and better) for sure.

sounds good but as the eshin army is my only skaven army i cant really compare the warlord and eshin forces.

This is a classic case of "different strokes for different folks!"

My opinion is the complete opposite. I think that the fun and sheer adrenaline rush of playing Eshin is to abandon those safely familiar 'normal' Skaven philosophies and to sink or swim with an entirely skirmishing force. It is fragile and very challenging, but uniquely Eshin and bags of fun.

The only way you'll ever find out if it's the best for you is to try the two alternatives (best with proxy models), and to do so for quite a few games (I found that it took me quite some time to get a handle on the skirmishing variant of Eshin).

If I want non-skirmishing Skaven, I go Pestilens or a Warlord Clan. If I want to walk the along the razor's edge, I skirmish with my Eshin.

Have fun,

While it would be cool to trick your opponent this way, I have to agree with Nurlitch. The best part of playing Eshin is having a purely skirmishing army. This a huge strategical change from the normal way a Warlord army is played. That is why I decided to try my hand with the ninja rats. Make sure you at least try out an all skirmishing army even if it is with proxies as Nurglitch suggested. You may find it as intriguing an army as I do.

BTW, how did you do the Asian theme with your regular Skaven?

The thing that jumps to my mind is that it would end up being a smaller less well armoured (well armoured for Skaven that is ^_^ ) Warlord army with killier than usual characters. I think it would be an all or nothing army, you could easily lose most of your army in a very short time. That said if you can pull it off it is a neat idea.
