which way do you use them often?

not so far, I allways used big units of 4+ packs ... cause they are fast, outnumbers and have 8(10) attacks .. and with MM could win against most opponents ..

now I prefer 2 small units .. for killing warmachines crew it's enough and with US 14 it cancels oponents ranks when attacks from rank, rear ..

and are cheaper to sacrifice :D

how about you?

yes, but therefore it cost sooo much ... I'd rather spent that points for clanrats ;)

not so far I played big GR units .. but now I prefer versatil troops .. and sneaky

I eventually wanna try what you said. I talked to one guy at one of our LA big rogue trader tournies, and he was telling me about that. He did really well too, and his list was not cheesy at all.

He said he used them like you to do, as pure flankers and war machine hunters. He also used 4 of them, and always set them up first, so that his he knew his opponets set up better, as they ran out of fast movable troops before him.

It looked really good, I probably will give it a go.

I use small packs of app. 2 nowadays as well. Although they can be very scary in big numbers, they tend to get cloggered up by dense terrain. Giant rats are particular for one goal: fast and rapid assault!

thank you all for your's suggestions ...

D99: he uses 4*2 packs or 4*1 pack? I found 1 pack too weak.. it has no rank bonus .. if bad dice falls and packmaster dies ...

on the other hand ... 2pack unit ... +1(+2) rank bonus, 1 flank attack .. -1 outnumber. -1 standart .. it should hold some enemy units and defeats some low armored ..

I take i beleive 2 packs (put em together of course) and use them as flankers

because they fast, expendable, and VERY effective

i do both (me love moulder lol) plus they tend to atract all the shooting attention, because there big they move fast and they will kill gunners if there not shot down. leaving ur clannies unscathed
GW, sucking the fun out of the hobby since 1999.

Never worry. Worst case scenario you die, and then there was no point worrying anyways.

I have 4 packs. I used to use them as one unit, but now I use them as 2 units of 2 packs. As my and my opponent's lizardman army are about 1200 points, I just use one pack to distract his salamanders for the battle (he falls for it) and the other fights (and usually destoys) one of the skink units. Thats about a quarter of his army distracted for about an eighth of mine.

I love giant rats; they're cheap (Points wise); they're cheap (cash wise); they look awesome (the metal ones btw, not the crappy new plastic ones); and they're dead easy to paint.
