I've got a game coming up at the end of the month and I am planning on taking my Eshin army. This will be my first game with a 2000+ UCoD army. With little thought, I started equipping my ninja rats with smoke bombs where I could. Then I got to thinking, when have I ever really used these? I have only used them on a couple of occasions in smaller games. Now, I am thinking of using the points on something else. How often fo you actually use smoke bombs when you dish out the points for them? |

Always on the Master, then on the Triad if points allow. Both have been saved by this. Never on anything else (other than an Assassin in games under 2k pts). |

Depends on how you use them. An assassin with warpstone stars will never need the bombs, as he really tries to avoid combat most of the time. An assassin with the leading a unit of gutter runners or something doesn't need them either. But an assassin with a weeping blade whom you plan to skitterleap into enemy units to assassinate wizards hiding therein would greatly benefit from them. Rule of thumb: IF suicide mission, THEN smokebombs. |

I'm new at Skaven in general so obviously at Eshin too, but I thought smoke bombs were GREAT when i read about them! question: if you equip a sorceror with them, can you put it in a unit and effectively have a unit of runners with smoke bombs? because thats why i would put the bombs on my sorcerors |

Never. I never have a lone assassin... and that many points... MUTATE: Now, on Master Assassin. |

On the master assassin, always. He never ever was caught with those babies. Generally, for me, it is rallying after that seems hard. And no bombs on nothing else. My triads are always working with something else, so they can't be used. |

No. In that case, the smokebombs become useless. They only work if all your models in the fight have smokebombs. That's why you should only give them to lone characters on suicide missions. |

I can't really imagine putting them on Sorcerats, there's not much reason too...I typically use my Sorcerats to get my MA where he needs to be, and then have them follow up other groups that might need the slight assistance, they are still pretty good in hand-to-hand, just not alone I don't think. It would certainly be nice to have the option to give them to other squads on a points per model option though, the Skaven being cowardly special rule is usually good enough, though |

Sorcerats are capable of taking out enemy wizards and lightly armored characters. In that case, the smoke bombs might be good if the enemy is in a large unit or something where combat resolution bonuses will outwiegh the wounds you put on the character. The extra VP you would get for killing a charcter might be worth the risk to your Sorcerat. |
