In the US White Dwarf there is a write in column directed to Dirty Steve. In the past there has been several letters stating that Skaven should be represented in 40k. The response from Dirty Steve can be summed up as NO! After playing some games of 40k with gutter runners acting as my Inquisitor's Death Cult Assassins, I decided to summarize the fluff I had devised and write him a letter about it. I doubt it will get published so I figured I'd share it all with you here: Just thought I should drop you a line because my Inquisitor has discovered Skaven in the 40k universe! On the hiveworld Illthmaehrk, he and his beleagured storm troopers were in dire straits. Suddenly they were confronted by mysterious rat-men who promised to aid them. In exchange, they wanted 13 of their warriors to accompany the Inquisitor in his journeys thereafter. Not knowing whether these creatures were aliens, mutants, or spawn of Chaos but without much choice, he agreed. After completeing his mission, the Inquisitor kept his word and took the rat-men on to act as his Death Cult Assassins. Their weapons were made from a combination of metal and stone that weeped a corrosive venom and were the equivalent to Imperial power weapons. Little did he know that nearly a whole clan of these creatures had stowed away aboard his ship. Soon, they will infest all of the galaxy! Be warned, I will continue the heretical act of using Skaven for Death Cult Assassins until the master race is rightfully represented in 40k. |

Thats pretty cool, Death Cult assassins in 40k are more elites expensive guys right? I used to play 40k a few years ago, and them adding Skaven might make me want to try it again. I'm not sure what they would really do with the army, or how they would design it. A horde army obviously, but whats the twist with them? Obviously having lots of guns can't be the Skaven thing (hehehe, everyone has it!), nor having lots of models. I would like to see Skaven in 40k, I just can't really picture it. On the other hand, if they ever make a offical Imperial Guard Tank Army.... |

Personally, I don't think Skaven could have ever made it into the 40k universe. Not to be mean or anything, as it sounds kinda cool, but the last large engine the Skaven made fueled by warpstone was the Doom Hemisphere of Project Supremacy, and that failed miserably. Can you imagine the consequences if Skaven frequently tried to launch themselves into space? The results would not only end up destroying the master race, but just about ever race around them as well. That all aside, enjoy your gaming, ye crazy heretic, as it sounds like you're having fun. ![]() Write some fluff on this stuff dude, and post it in the Fan-fiction section. Could be a good read by the sounds of things, and I'm sure 40k Skaven count enough to e posted there.

It shall be one horrible day, when Fantasy Armies are put into 40k. It would just be terrible. Just terrible. You might think Orks are considered a Fantasy-40k army, but they aren't. They haven't evolved. The Orks are just there, they aren't actual O&G. Please, 40k Skaven is almost as Bad as Space Lizards. What, are we going to have Metal Fur, and Robot Rats? Yeesh. |

My long stalled Death Guard force will be restarted using Plague Guard plastics for conversion purposes once my actual Pestilens are bringing peace, love and f@rt jokes to the Warhammer World. But I do think that that's about as close as we'll get to Rats In Space in our lifetime! BTW: That's a krakka of a disguise for a Saurus, Philee! And trust me: wee Pestilens are all well aware of how to give a saurus to those who get within spitting distance of us. Give all at TPV2 my love & best wishes - I hope to be bringing some furry lads to Lustria for a bit of a working rat's holiday some time real soon . |
