For the minimum amount of work you could use this guy. Its just a simple staff with an eshin icon at the top which could easily fill the role of a standard. And, since its an offical Eshin model by GW, no one could give you any grief for it not being steathly enough! Those back banners sound like a good idea too, but I think I'd try to avoid making them toooooo big. One other idea, maybe taking a simple staff and wrapping a Skaven-runed ribbon around it? Sort of like the way the GW team did Thanqual's staff in 4th/5th ed. On the old banner sheet, the one's 4th and 5th from the top counting down the right side. Those little strips were coiled around the staff. Maybe someone has a pic of that old Thanqual... |

I've got that sheet and I do like those runes. Perhaps I will use them around the border or at the top and/or bottom of a narrow scroll-like banner with the Eshin symbol in the middle. |

There is one on the Mordheim accessory sprue. It is a lantern on a pole, but that is easily taken care of.

Why not use the hanging body from the zombie sprue on a back banner... |

Probably the eternal story. Boy sees alien, alien sees food. Boy objects, alien takes offense. Lt Melville The Two-Space War (D. Grossman & L. Frankowski) The Skaven are attacking with Nefareous Porpoises! | |

Do you know where I can find that sprue? I have been looking at all the mordhiem stuff I can find on the GW website, but can't get it... p.s. decent looking lanterns are a *^(&) to make from scratch... |

@ Fibonacci: Here's the part code and price from the GW online store: Sprue: Mordheim Accessory Part Code: 99391199001 Price: $4.00 I've been looking at my NRs that I currently have and I think they will be too stooped over to use the back banner idea. After digging through my extra minis, I think I'll use the old SV banner bearer. I can cut his banner pole off and sculpt a war fan to hold in that hand, then put a back banner on him since he stands upright. Plus, he is even wearing heavy armor. |

Howdy, I realize that this thread has been dormant for a long time, but I was outside today - it's finally a warm, sunny day on my day off - flying my kite and one thought led to another and pretty soon I was thinking about a scene in the book Fishboy and then I remembered this thread and.... I don't know exactly how to model this, but I thought that a great Eshin banner would be to have a fella flying a burning kite! I suppose you'd use thin-gauge metal wire and then just make a small kite. And I remember seeing modeling tips on GW's site for making flames once. It was in the 40K section. Probably the best way to do it for carrying purposes would be to have teh wire not permantly affixed to the model, but rather to have it slide into a small hole. I realize that a fella couldn't really fly a kite and fight at teh same time, but the idea of an army being led into battle with a kite burning 100's of feet (meters for all those metrically oriented folks ) above teh fray. If it was flown high enough it wouldn't really shed that much light, even. ANd the bearer would definitely have some anonymity. And where are the models that this thread spawned? I'd like to see some pics! |
