Do you limit yourself when making your own Clan?

I do not limit my self in any way with my clan. Orginally my plan had been to avoid all skyre weapons except the engineers, but after much play testing, this theory went away when I couldn't crack kinghts up too well, or take out big units of heavily armored warriors, such as Choas Warriors, and sometimes even Saurus. This thought really came into my head after playing a three way battle against Brets and the old wood elves, I didn't have anything to take down the knights, and no shooting to get the wood elves.

It just wasn't going to work.

So now my only limit is not overdoing anything. I try to bring a balanced clan, with 2 units of clanrats usually, and a good mix of everything else. I orginally wanted to use lots of moulder units, until I discovered Rat Ogres weren't up to par, and the giant rats were just inferior to the clanrats except in flanking.

So just a regular army now, with a bit of every clan except moulder.

I really don't limit myself to my Clan. Why? If I did my clan would be really messed up. My Warlord is a worshipper of Tzeentch, gots a bunch of mini dragons[my precious dragonkin], with a load of Skyre stuff[among other contraptions of my own design] and it would have a mix of Clanrats, Stormvermin, and Nightrunners. I mean... sure... it'd be fun to convert little teddy bears into kamikazi's... but I don't have that kind of skill and it would require a lot of rule testing... which I'm trying to do at the moment... suffice it to say I pushed it off to the side a little while ago as I have not the head for stat lines, etc... one day though... one day...

Now... maybe if I just co-erce the CO13 to add Scrapsnik to that scrolly list, and I'll be alllll set.

if you dont limit your self, wouldnt you find it boring after a while of playing the same list over and over again, if you theme up and limit your self, your always using something differant so you AND your opponants will be satisfied

but why would you want a unit of humans led by a skaven? a proper skaven would never lower himself to a human level, IMHO.

Because the cult of the Horned Rat are humans who worship Skaven because they know in the end the rat-men will inherit! They are hoping that by helping out now, they will be spared when the Horned Rat walks the earth.

The Skaven leader is the cell leader, the go-between for the humans and their Skaven masters.

I'll probably end up making a specialized force... but until I get a Skaven fighting force larger than 1000 pts... actually... on second thought, maybe I should aim lower still. 500 pts, I can start thinking about it.

I wasn't originally going to take Pestilens but a lot of what you get in the Battalion is Pestilens ohh well.
Probably the eternal story. Boy sees alien, alien sees food. Boy objects, alien takes offense.

Yeah I do limit myself for the remnants of Clan Fangmaw. Quick run-down, I had a huge army in 5th edition but when converted to 6th there was heaps I couldnt use and ended up with only about 1500 usable points. AND my army ALWAYS lost.

So my Chieftain (who used to be Warlord) is now running away from the failures of his past. I dont have any Eshin troops because he is too afraid they've been sent to punish him for screwing up. I have a few Skyre troops - mainly they're the ones who were with the old army and are sticking by Skritchin the Warlock Engineer (who is too afraid to face his clan after destroying the Doomwheel). Only my Rat Ogres for Moulder, my Chieftain has a stash of warpstone to pay them with. And no slaves as yet, a clan fleeing cant herd slaves as well.

My Plague Monk Plague Deacon told my Chieftain how to escape and lead him to Lustria where he's trying to make his way now, so I have free reign on Pestilens troops. If he wins battles, I'll reward the army with first slaves, then maybe some of the other 'forbidden' elements. If he loses then he might just find himself as a fancy new coat for the Grey Seer who's hunting him. So far he's winning.
