I'm trying to decide how many Sorcerats to include in my 2000 pt Eshin army. From my experience Skitterleap is seldom cast successfully unless a 13 is rolled or I am playing a very magic-poor army. So when I do field a Sorcerat he is always Lvl 2 so I have a chance of getting Irresistable Force. I've seen some people's Eshin lists with 3 Sorcerats, does that work well? I usually field 2 Warlocks in my Warlord army, 1 for offensive and 1 as a scroll cadddy. I'm not sure if I want to even field a second Sorcerat though. I'm leaning to adding an Assassin to give a unit more hitting power or to be yet another Scouting unit on his own. I guess I'd like to know how often others get off Skitterleap and who is Skitterleapt. I realize Skitterleaping a Fell Blade equipped Sensei is great, but if you can't cast the spell wouldn't it be better to let him Scout? |

Your Sorcerers won't do much unless you have 3, but you want another Assassin. I would use 2 Eshin Sorcerers, a Master Assassin, and an Assasssin |

I use 1 master assassin with 3 sorcerats. That way, if something bad happens, I can skitterleap one of them into harms way, and use him to get the assassin out. There is nothing like the face of an opponent who swings a major unit to face an assassin on one side, only to have it leap to the other end of the table... |

I've got two at the moment, and I don't think I'd go with less (at least at 2k pts). A master assassin leads my army and I've been trying out a chieftain as a battle standard bearer. I've only been able to play my eshin army twice now and afterwards considered replacing the cheftain with another sorc, but I think I'm going to keep trying him a bit longer to see if I can make that extra +1cr (and decent melee) work for me. If I decide to drop him, I'll probably take a lvl1 sorc w/ 2 dispell scrolls to replace him or an assassin with a weeping blade or something. |

I run a Fellblade equipped Sensei with 3 L2 Sorcerats, and it works extremely well for me. I work on the basis that a Triad is effectively 3 Assassins, so buying another one from my points allocation for Charatters as well seems to me to serve no great purpose. Three Sorcerats allow me to cast Skitterleap using 3/ 3/ 2 dice, so I find that I usually get it off at least once per phase (I never use Warp Tokens with this army). I equip two of the Sorcerats with 2 Dispell Scrolls each as defensive magic stoppers, while the third has the Warp Scroll to deal out some damage to my enemy. I have found that by Turn 3, my opponents are so used to my 3-3-2 casting pattern that they have nothing left to halt the Warp Scroll when I unleash it after the double diced attempt to Skitterleap. It serves as a right mental kick in the soft parts for my opponents when they have to stand hopelessly by as the Warp Scroll trashes its chosen target. There's also nothing to stop you Scouting with your Skitterleap casting Sorcerats. I like to set mine up alongside the Sensei, and it makes no difference to me whether that's in a forward (Scouting) position or within my deployment zone. Don't forgert that these are Eshin Sorcerats, and are not your usual namby-pamby skirt wearing wand-wavers. These are WS4/ A2 dudes with Poisoned Attacks, and are quite capable of taking down enemy mages, Ratling Guns & Banshees individually, or any artillery crew as a gang! Play them aggressively and with panache (it'll certainly freak out most opponents to see your mages out actively hunting), but remember that their primary task is to stay within Skitterleap casting range of the Fellblade! Good Hunting! |

I tried that the other day, but a cannon crew whooped my sorc's butt. First sorc was going to port the second over to the master assassin but got dispelled. The second ported himself over to that part of the table to be ready for the next round, but I figured I'd beat up a cannon while in the neighborhood... which didn't work out very well. Moral of the story: Be careful if you try to fight with them. They're still quite fragile, much like the rest of the army. |

well if you have more than one of them near the assassin im sure two could take out a crew of 3 WS2/3 T3/4 crewmen no problem, but i agree that one is just not enough because hes already losing combat by 1 to start with and needs to wound with both attacks to stand a chance |

2 Lv 2 are always enough for me. Gives me 2 spells at 3 dices each. Coupled with a fellblade MA and a warpstars assassins, this is a rock hard combination. In my opinion, i feel 3 are OTT, as well as robbing you of a precious assassin slot. And it makes it harder for the opponent to predict, compared to the 3 skitterleaps on MA one-trick pony. |
