The Cannon is awesome.... opposing players FEAR it! For 100 points you have a "B" line of up to 48" thru woods and into flanks of enemy at anywhere from Strength 2 to 10! What's NOT to like for 13 sake? |

I used to take them, but right now my warp-lightning cannon is collecting lots of dust... Frankly, I think that cannon to be the worst invention of the 6th ed. of warhammer. Although the random strength makes it a fluffy skaven weapon, it makes it so NOT suitable for use against infantry. Nowadays, so much people go for infantry, and therefor I'd go for ratlings and/or warpfire throwers instead. Though, some might have succes with it... I only use it in sieges since a long time, and since I don't play those very often, the warp-lightning cannon gets dusty. Greetz |

The WLC... what can I say about it... Its a gambling machine! I love gambling! The thrill of throwing the artillery dice is enough reason to take one. Plus the intimidation factor(people thend to forget the str2 shots or missfires) |

In terms of killing power it's not as good as it potentially could be but in terms of gaining an opponents attention it's awesome. I stick mine on the flank and send it down fast. This usually brings out the flyers and fast cav where they can be zapped easily by my engineer and intercepted by nightrunners. I never fail to be amazed how people will throw there fast units into danger just to get rid of my cannon. Ive even used it where it moved every turn just to get a difficult unit into a more useful position. No-one wants to risk that long strength 10 shot and useing it the way I do fits with the way I use my whole army, its expendable (to me, not the rule.). |

The Major use i have for the thing is that it can nail characters no matter where they are. By the wording that it says that hits are not randomized and every MODEL under the line is it, characters dont get their look out sir, which makes for easy dealing with chaos lords and the like. So long as you get a decent strength...... Puddy |

Characters definitely get a look-out-sir roll against the cannon. It'd be major cheese otherwise. The warplightning cannon functions just like a normal cannon does, i.e. as an infinitely thin template. Templates allow for look-out sir rolls. And you do randomise hits if a cannon hits a model with multiple parts, like a character riding a dragon. The rules state:
This means: it works just like a cannon does, except it doesn't have a bounce distance. All models under the line are hit, whether they're 1" in front of the cannon or 31". It doesn't mean: ignore all normal rules for warmachine fire. |

My Jezzails have really stunk lately. I am thinking about dropping them and taking the PCB as well. The WLC is random but is is much fun. I really like the chance of doing D6 wounds. My local ogre opponent really hates my WLC. |

I love actually seeing people ask me about shooting it. Yea, the machine it self has a three up ward, and the rest of the crew has a 4 up ward. Please, shoot at my cannon! But in the end I do find it useful, even though I am cursed with it and always have it misfire. But it is the bane of chariots in a skaven army, since we usually don't have such high strength stuff above 6, I use it as a chariot killer, if no chariots, a knight blaster/mage sniper. |

Check your other topic. The cannon has a 4+ ward, not 3+. That's the screaming bell. The crew is not targeted seperately, and has no need of a save. |

I love that cannon! It causes fear in my opposin players. But of course sometimes it causes laugh in my opposin players(str 2 brrhrhgpprrpb <_<). Its a bit terrible when deployed behind woods or somethinglikedat. |

I use it to snipe at people or destroy hard-to-kill monsters and stuff. of course, it misfires all over the place and you are doomed if somebody gets into your deployment zone but otherwise I like it! Of course, I might just swap it for some censor bearers, but that is against my Skyre-ish theme. |

I've sen only 2 uses fo rthe WLC lately: As an intimidation factor: you'd be surprised to see how many of your opponent troops are gonna be on the opposite flank after you deploy your WLC... As a sniping machine: The cheesy use... Find a traget... Scwoom... A body drop... I started to find a use for it against Ogres, their high cost make the cannon quite easy to pay back, and the high amount of damage it deal on multiple wound creature make it worth taking against the big guys... When it fire decently that is... |
