Umbranner and Velcro; Anyone tried this

Given the Umbranners name and what it does it seems like it would make sense to model it as an umbrella? I was thinking of attaching one of those cocktail umbrellas to the banner pole. I assume someone else has tried this. (Though they would need a much large umbrella to actually protect the whole unit, but it explains why it only works on lower strength projectiles)

Also I hear a lot about magnets, but has anyone ever tried velcroing the rats to their trays. You can get the two strips of Velcro with sticky sides opposite, and it seems like it might make for a more interesting tray when the rats get killed, using the fuzzier side on the base. I may try it out if no one can think of a reason it won’t work. I imagine it may not be strong enough for metal models but I was planning on doing something different with them anyway.

if your models arent glued 2 there bases strongly enough i can imagine the model coming off, but the base staying on lol.

The umbranner idea is pretty cool, i suggest making the umbrulla have holes and skaven symbols on it

hmmm... interesting idea... but if you read the rules in casues a black cloud to form over the unit. so a cocktain unbrella would be kinda silly.

besides, it is a BANNER. if you take some tissue paper and white glue you can make a banner. i always though of the umbranner as a really long banner writhing (for those of you that don't know writhing (hope i spell it right) it is a evil and ominous rigling. a good example is writhing in pain) around in the air. but thats just me.

i hope to see how it turns out so i can feel stupid about my idea or laugh at your (in a friendly way ofcourse)

I played a TK guy who used velcro, he took forever taking his skeletons off. But of course there would be no way they would ever accidently come off their base.

I tinkered with velcro on my TK, but ran into the problem that you had to set them in exactly the right place. With magnets, you can set the guy down and slide him to make him fit into the ranking.

Not quite...heres why:

The Umbranner causes a massive black cloud to cover the battlefield. "Umbra" means "shadow" in Latin, the word has further been used in modern english as the scientific term for the darkest part of a shadow, or a dark region in a sunspot.

close but no ciggar, at least this gives you a clue as to where we got the word "Umbrella"... no worries though,

Though if there is a dark cloud following you around it would make scene to carry an umbrella. I would guess that the Skaven, however, are not to worried about getting wet. It is kind of a funny idea though to have one of those cartoony rainclouds following a particularly dower and wet skaven.

It reminds me of a converted model a mate of mine has, of a chaos space marine (i think) in a yellow mackintosh weilding an umbrella over his head.

I think velcro in the long term wouldn't be feasible. It's awkward to put on and remove the models, and it can wear out over time.
