I am doing a full conversion (read: every model is modified) and am looking at using some other race models in the mix. I want to know if I am trying to do something "bad". Basically, I am doing a Disneyland theme. I converted a Grey Seer to be the Sorcerer's apprentice, I have made rat ogres as Genie and Beast, with Jafar and Beauty as thier packmasters. The WLC is Casey Jr. from Dumbo, the giant rats are dalmations. My censer bearers are the 7 dwarves. (side note: This might seem wierd, but it is pretty normal compared to my disco tomb kings) What I want to do now is make the large block units (clanrats and maybe slaves) into tourists visiting the land. Is it wrong to make, say a unit of skinks with backpacks and mouseketier hats and call them clanrats? I don't want to ask any of the players in this area because I want to get the army mostly done, then spring the whole thing on them at once. Due to popular demand, here are the pics of the Tomb Kings http://legionarmy.bravehost.com/Pics.html |

ermmm... fascinating ideeea.... though by the end of it, can the army still be recognised as skaven? You could use regular clanrats with mouseketeer hats. It might get hard for your opponent to keep reminding himself that 'no, those are not actually skinks'. I guess you gotta have a majority of skaven models in there otherwise it'll just get confusing. Though Disneyland is an evil organization bent on global domination, so it suits skaven. And ya haven't seen my plans to collect a cutesy slaaneshi army, with pink hearts all over my banners, poodle hellhounds, a giant fluffy bunny spawn, and chicken furies... |

GW, sucking the fun out of the hobby since 1999. Never worry. Worst case scenario you die, and then there was no point worrying anyways. Skaven repaint overhaul Number 5! (2/5th complete) | |

It's certainly the strangest idea for an army theme I've heard.... well, until I got to the "Disco Tomb Kings" part. You have *got* to post pics of that. Skinks might be strange for the bulk of units.... I'd almost say use regular clanrats or humans of some sort. Use a regular hole punch and plasticard to make black mouseketeer ears for them. |

This idea is kinda funny, my dwarf friends is better though. He takes a snow white model he has as general. |

actually i love this idea and i second hakoMike: i want to see pics of everything you got (those disco kings and the 'rats'!) i think you should clearly show what your army is... and that the units should have the appropriate armamant it shoudl be 'somewhat' clear what unit is what and which army you are playing... |

Clarification: My army is mostly skaven models. The WLC is the actual model, just converted, the rat ogres are the same, though the packmasters are made from elf parts. My censer bearers are being converted from the actual skaven models (make the staff into a pickaxe and the censer into a lantern). I am looking at having non-skaven convertions of: 1. a unit of skinks as clanrats 2. a unit of empire militia as clanrats 3. a unit of skeleton slaves (poor little guys worked their fingers to the bone) All of the above would be given the proper skaven adornments What I failed to mention earlier is the Grey Seer has a custom bell that is a stone tower and is pushed by an army of brooms (made from spears/halberds and paintbrush bristles) I still need ideas for what to make from the other characters, the ratling gun, the warpfire thrower, and the plague monks. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

I seem to remember pictures in a WD of a Wood Elf player who made a "Fairy" army. He used Ungors (Satyrs) with spears to act as Glade Guard. I can't remember everything he had in it, but I don't seem to remember there being ANY real elves. Well, maybe his wizards were but none of the units. Dirty Steve also counselled a person writing in who was designing a Tzeentch Lizardman army to just use the Chaos rules with the converted Lizardmen. I have used units of goblins with a couple of Skaven "Slavemasters" in them as Skavenslaves. So, I don't see why you couldn't use Skink tourists as Clanrats as long as you make sure your opponent knows what they are. |
