Definate Aye as the cauldron is quintessentially a big plagued wagon.
By the horned rat what more could you want in a pestilence army?

I agree w/ Vinsh and Throlk as for including the Cauldren in your "Pestilens" army.

PROS:

Bound Spell (no miscast, only backfires, like Bell, except you can choose two dice vs three - fearing the dreaded triple!).

Chariot (good for those frenzied plague monks whom will take you into combat anyways)

Ward Save (4+, hella good considering how many warmachines actually have them)

Magic Resistance (2 dice - this unit will be targetted with magic/ magic missles)

CONS:

Pricey (200 pts, the price reflects its power, pound for pound).

Limited (you'll need to play a 2,000 + point game to bust this puppy out - since a plague pontifex is required).

I'm personally currently building my Cauldren, just need an acceptable model for the Pontifex.

HERETICS...

I'd say play it in full magic, either at 2000/2500pts you play 2 lvl 2 and the lvl 3 on cauldron, or just stick with a scroll caddy or 2

Ive been running a cauldron at 2000 points along with 2 lvl 2 wizards and it has worked wonders. Normally I have enough power dice that if they want to wait for the cauldron to cast it then I will have even more chance to cast it with the pontifex himself or a lvl 2 with a token. It hasnt won me games but I have had times where my army was being crushed and it came through just enough for me to even the score, regroup and come out on top. Plus, the chariot abilities of it has helped my main unit imensly.

I've recently started Pestilens, fresh from the Hell Pit, and I like to use the Cauldron in a magic heavy-list with two level twos. Otherwise, don't bother and just go for a couple of Scrolls on a Level 1.

you should do it but have some rats to back up your grey seers or else you will leave them exposed and they will be killed fairly quickly :pmaster:

Bunny ear says flop

*ponders*... Perhaps it's just me (and I'm not sure as I don't have the book near me), but as the subject is about the Cauldron we're talking about the Lustria armybook/ campaign book here. If I remember correctly, the grey seer isn't listed at all in that book! So if you could elaborate on your thoughts regarding protecting him, I'd very much appreciate it.

I'm building up a bubonic court list, and the cauldron for me is a MUST!
Sure its pricey, but lets face it, the cauldron will be, no matter what you use, a very impressive looking model. More than having a winning army, you should have a cool looking army. In terms of gameplay, if you manage to bend the rules and not take nurglitch, then the 400 pts to spent in this little baby, even if it takes up 20% of your points, the result should be satisfactory. If, however, you must feature Nurglitch you're going to have a problem since even a 3000 point army will have a THIRD of its points being taken away! Ouch.
Even an ogres kingdom army would have more models than yours if you put these two baddies together.

Conclusion, place it in your army if your friends accept the new rules.

btw, I'm brewing up a really sweet conversion of the cauldron, maybe I'll get a chance to show it to you guys some day :D
