Definitely a good idea...definitely NOT going to base them off of Plague Monk bodies though...I'd rather work with the Night Runners. The big problem is there aren't that many open night runner hands...then again they don't all have to be posed throwing globes, either... As for the barrels, I'm not sure what they are. They're large barrels, roughly 30mm scale, and are made of wood, and stained. I got a bag at a yard sale for 50 cents, and I think there's less than 100 in there, lol, but I have more than enough for sure. I was going to use them for terrain, but meh...

I want to do a similar thing, but as i dont have any barrels i want some sort of tank on their backs to make them look at least a bit Skyryish, not too big, like a firemans oxygen tank. Does anybody have any ideas of what to use? The proper PWG back packs are WAY too big. FB |

I agree that the PWG packs are huge...hmm...I can't think of anything similar though, aside from the Ratling Gun crewman's backpack (but since he's one piece, that'd get expensive)...

A Tylenol or other medicine capsule (or caplet or whatever they're calling them nowadays) for the top half, and a square piece of gum (the kind that's coated with a crunchy outside, not like a stick of gum) for the bottom half. A little 'ard coat or something should lock in the bits that would normally dissolve, then paint 'em up. Just a thought... they seem like they'd be the right size. There are all manner of platicard/styrene tubes and square rail available for model railroading that would work too. I just really like the Tylenol / gum combo.

If you don't like the big backpacks and if you use greenstuff, just roll a bit into a tube shape and a smaller 'tube' to make a hose leading to it. That could be like a small filter canaster that can be worn at the waist. (Rough photoshop mockup) Or, just go for the resperator look, a gasmask with two circular cartrages on the sides, no backpack or tubing required. Like this. Even w/o greenstuff, you could make those canasters from the hilt of an extra spear or something. Just cut little slices, the scale should be close enough. I like the big backpack and gasmask look of the globidiers, but $1/pt is really bad. I'm glad I've got 10 of them from way back when and I don't plan to ever get any more. I'd probably be looking for ways to convert them as well if i needed more. |

Well, good news is I think I've got a cheap lot of 20 Globadiers heading to my door. The bad news is now I don't get to play with these conversions. Oh well, I'll have enough with the Jezzails - and if this falls through, it's back to the drawing board! ![]() Thanks for the help so far. Cadian backpacks...hmm...I dunno. I didn't think all of the Cadian guys HAD backpacks? |

Bleh...the PWG deal for me fell through. This sucks. Now I have to wait two months to get some Night Runners when I get home, and start converting. ![]() I HATE my useless family, btw. it can't be all that bad. trust me. it's better you HAVE a family. |

Cool! Maybe if I swapped some of them out for globes and canisters spewing gas, and added some masks...that could look GREAT! Thanks! BTW, my army is definitely moving back to its roots of Shikkish and Veskit (the Mordheim assassin rat, rebuilt by Skryre) - in other words, Skryre troops with Eshin elements, and vise versa.

there the wooden kegs from the dwarf warrior spures that no one uses, with a small piece of wire inserted anda greenstuff blob as a flame. plus the unit only cost £10 to make compared to using 10 metal models. |

unfortunately the backpacks with the cadians are on a sprue, order the sprue and you'll have 5 bodies, 5 legs. 5 heads and some equipment that you can't use for much other than some other scenery/conversion.... luckily for me I've got the half the backpacks from 6 boxes of cadians...... |

These conversion ideas all sound great! My two cents worth is on the globes themselves. Instead of pricy ball bearings, why not use small plastic beads from a craft store? It shouldn't make your model as top heavy either if you pose them throwing the globes. Those hand kegs are from the Dwarf regiment? Awesome! That's just what I have been looking for to use on my Warlock conversion. Off to eBay to see if there are any cheap Dwarf regiments... |
