Okay...the price change puts the price of a Globadier up to 10 Canadian Dollars. That's rediculous, they used to be 4 bucks each! I refuse to buy them at that infernal price, but I need 20 of them. Now, I have 2 options - find someone selling 20 globadiers second-hand, or convert them. Mostly I'm asking about the second option here - but if anyone does want to sell me 20 globadiers at a REASONABLE price, feel free to PM me. ![]() I was thinking of something with the Night Runner boxed set - those bulky backpacks are rather unappealing really. The gas masks could be sculpted, or probably made from plasticard...any suggestions? |

Green stuff would be my suggestion, depending on how fancy you want to get with it. I'm not sure plasticard would be the best way to go, to be honest. I couldn't tell from your post but you meant 100% plasticard, correct? I would say a mix of plasticard and green stuff would be most efficient, depending on the size of the backpacks/gas masks you wish to create. Perhaps just use plasticard as a base structure for you to use? Then you wouldn't have to use as much green stuff and it would be a little easier to work with. |
...And all this time I thought there was only one way to "retire" from the Council! What you call "retire", I call a "stay of execution"..whats in a word? Large Ball bearings make good globes (as they are spereical and all <_< ) when ainted up. So it should be pretty easy to convert some using those. |

True, and true again...as for the plasticard I meant partially - I'm pretty good with greenstuff, not amazing but this is nothing I can't handle. The one thing is, I'm trying to get that Clan Skryre look with them, and have them look good - if possible have them turn out like the Jezzails (the ones done with Kroot Rifles, I'm going to be doing 15 of those shortly) and look BETTER than the "official" model...hmm...that leaves a dilemma. *downs a shot of SkavenAde and thinks* |

You could buy Skyrye backpacks from mail order.....but that would cost you almost as much as the models themselves. FB |

Yeah...and now that I think about it...how the heck can something so heavily equipped be a skirmishing unit? It really doesn't add up all that well, to be sneaking through trees with at least a 50lb backpack on. I think it might be best to eliminate the backpacks altogether, going with a gas mask, and multiple satchels of globes. Night Runners are starting to sound better as a base now...the question is, once I've done the gas masks and globes, will they look Skryre-esque enough, and if not what should I add? |

most of that is globes... and padding! They must be trained to run aroud to get th globes where they are needed. so it's kinda understandible for them to be skirmishers. just my 2 cents. oh, bakc on topic, if you have some of the official models, you could use clannies of night runners (special modeling... maybe give em robes) to make a few rats look like they throwing globes... and why not have someone that misfired  ? you may wish to add some random pouches and such. |

I like the idea of getting some night runners, making some satchels out of greenstuff and make them look like they're buldging with globes. Maybe have a few throwing them. But, like someone said, not Skryre enough, so my solution is to model gas masks somehow. In fact I think I might do some the same. Thanks for the idea FB |

I don't currently have any official globadiers, but I understand your point if the backpack is mostly globes - why not store them in satchels and pouches instead of metal and wood? I think the NR box is a good starting point then. So: 1) Ball bearings for globes, with satchels done from greenstuff. 2) Sculpt gas masks using plastcard for the covers and greenstuff for the rest. I doubt it will be that difficult. The other thing worth noting is that Globadiers are really just specially equipped clanrats, rathern than Skryre adepts, at least as far as I know. If anyone has more fluff to change my opinion, I'd be glad to have it - but why I'm curious is whether or not I should sculpt robes around their legs, too...I'm thinking not, because it would be more difficult to run in those, ergo less realistic... |

Warlock Master Shikkish, what you said is best. Forget robes, just Night runners with gas masks and satchels will look fine. I'm going to do some myself! The only trouble is how to make them look differant to normal night runners... hmmmmm <_< FB |

I made a unit of PWG usig only my bitz(mostly Skaven). Here's what I did (sorry no pics,I lost the cord to my dig camera)... 1) Take Clan Rat heads(N.Runners are fine too), put small blob of green stuff on it's nose and "spread" it down the face so it looks like a mask (coz you can add detail if ya feel confident). It should be thick enough to just remind of face features, without actually showing them. Don't spread mask lower than start of the neck, it looks more like a mask this way. (head: best heads are the ones with spikes on the top, when finished, reminds of a WW1 Germans) 2)Add eyes to the mask. Look at the real globadier for reference. Its not that hard, I don't really know what to suggest. You can make several balls of putty to use as globes later too. Now let the putty dry. 3) Body is the new plague monk. Carefuly scrape off all boils, sores, etc. Right hand is our Globe toting hand. I used the Night Runner sling hand, after carfully filing the spikes from the sling's ammo. Left hand is up to you, I used Silver Helms hand to give an impression of protective suit (it's armored and has gloves(just file off stupid elven stars and hearts!)). Put the mask, hands together(on the body). Add Globes to their belts if ya made some. 4) Backback: I was lucky enough to have a bunch of Ogre sprues. I used the barrels that they have (like 3 in each box). Ask a friend who plyes them to share his and you'll be OK. Well that's all it is. |

Currently its this... 1) use the model of a night runner as a base 2) use ball bearings for the globes... might as well use green stuff for that, right? save a little cash ![]() 3) and no backpacks but loses the skryre feel Hmm... more skryre-esque... how about this? 4) add hoses (guitar string maybe?) from the gas masks to a small bag or tank of some sort... |

Okay, now I want to know where do you get 100 barrels into your bitz box? Tunnel Rats hose idea sounds good. Easy way to add some detail. |
