If they were to make a Nippon list it would not be a completely new army with their own codex. I don't recall them being an army in old books either. Weren't they an ally contingent like the Kislevs are now? I'd see them most likely in a future WD or BG issue (or maybe a future release of a new DOW/ROR with new lists and stuff) and not in their own army book. Just my guess.

In terms of future release predictions? What about a new DOW book maybe with new lists? Any chance this might happen?

7th Ed. AFAIK, is due out next, but it's just a revision, really. The Magic Phase is getting redone slightly, and heavy cavalry are losing some stuff. Those are the main rumours.

Chaos Dwarves...I suspect that they will come out, but it won't be 'Warhammer Armies: Chaos Dwarves' it'll be 'Machines of Chaos' and be focussed around the evil Stunties, Hellcannon and similar, Orc slaves and such, and mechanical stuff, like Golems. They've always said that they're making 3 Chaos books, and there's only two out...

Chaos Dwarves would be cool. Chaos doesn't need more stuff. They already have more selection than any other army in the game!

Current Fantasy Armies:
Dark Elves
Empire
Skaven

So... in order to get the Chaos Dwarves back... we have to kill gav thorpe.

Who volunteers?

I think pretty much the whole community does...

I for one think that araby has a great potential. Chek out their mythology: Genies, flying carpets, thunderbirds

I also agree that araby has potential to be good, with alot of resource material, though i'm not sure how marketable they would be. As it is araby doesn't have a lot of fluff backup, and an Arabian Nights theme might just send critics going "not another classic fable ripoff. As if the Brets weren't sad enough."

I wouldn't mind seeing that other race (Ind?) having an army though. If I remember correctly, they've got the Brahma god and stone temple monkeys or something.

As far as I'm concerned that's better than ripping off an existing army *cough*OK*cough*

Look for more campaign based setting stuff for WHFB in the future like Lustria perhaps there will be a Karaz A Karak Campaign as dicussed in other forums here..... personally I can not stand Chaos Dwarves, I hated their goofy appearance in the past & I am glad they have no plans for them other than DoW stuff in the future - why must every "Good" race have a evil mirror image?
You can dismiss any Water Army... how the hell would you have them play all the land based comp's in a tourney? I say there will br more DoW stuff in the future, it seems to be what they do when theres a lull in the excitement.

they won't do ind. there isnt enough there to make an entire army our of that would actually sell.

if anything, i'd say they would make something like cathay, which already has a lot of fluff connected to it. shaolin monks, advenced black powder (they invented it, after all), the god-emperor, etc.

Guh... I really don't want a Cathay or Nippon list if any of the lists on GW forum are any example of what they're gonna look like.

"Samurai Armor: 4+, this is also neglecting the fact that Samurai[I think, don't hold me to anything] were more made for speed than anything and therefore lightly armored.

Katana: +2 Strength, Initiative Order, and +1 to AS. This is hardly an overpowered weapon.[/sarcasm]" <_<

Seriously though, if they do make oriental armies, I hope to see Samurai and those Monks I saw earlier in this thread a special unit and no where near equiped like I saw some people doing.

I actually liked the CD though, their little trash can helmets... who am I kidding. I've always loved the novelty armies.

Just my two sushi worth,
Japanese samurai(of middle ranks and up) armor was the best, overall, armor in the world, at the time. It was light AND extremely tough(well... in general, anyway... it was a whole artform with oh so many different variations).

Katana rules are amusing, made by someone, who reeeally likes Japan... :P
Or seen too many chambara movies...

Cathay is much more likely to come out than Ind or Nippon. I know a guy of high rank in GW who was told me about one Dev team member(who shall remain nameless) that was bi...ing and moaning about making Cathay book for several years now.

Stare into nothingness for too long and you will forever be seduced by it's beauty...

Just out of curiosity, does anyone sorta keep distinctions between Cathay, Nippon and Inja? My assumption always was Cathay was China (monks and temple dogs), Nippon was Japan (with the samurai) and Inja was Ninja-land.

Just me personal opinion, but I wouldn't go so far as to call samurai armour the best in the world at the time. I certainly wouldn't consider them 4+ next to platemetal armour. :P

I think eventually, not soon but eventually, GW's going to relent and give us the far-east army. A Cathay/Nippon/Inja army might be interesting, maybe along the lines of the 'cathay core unit is special in nippon army' sorta deal. We could then get the monks and temple dogs with the samurai and light cavalry archers, repeating crossbows and cannons, and the skirmishng ninjas with throwing stars. :D

They could just make a "Far East" army book and combine it all, but honestly I really don't see them adding another race. The more I think about it, a rule revision is most likely. After they cut and paste the same typos into a 7th edition book the rewrites of the army books can begin with each new book made more powerful than the previous to encourage people to buy the next 'in' army.

But why? why?
Why don't they concentrate on the armies already out there?

They have to bring out new stuff so people can't buy second hand ;)

I'd like to see Chaos Dwarfs return but only if they bring hobgoblins with them.

If they bring out something new I guess it will be something similar to the Lustria book. Either in the lands of the Tomb Kings and Araby or Worlds Edge mountains and east of them. That way they could include Araby units or Chaos Dwarfs. Who knows...
