I have been married for almost 4 years and we dated for an additional 4 years before that. My wife does not play nor has she ever, nor will she ever. I am glad my wife does not play as it is gives me my own space and time. Does your significant other play? Do you wish he/she did? MR |

My wife has tried Fantasy (the Warhammer kind) as well as Inquisitor. Usually it's been because I need her as a guinea pig for something I'm working on.... But there's hope for all of us boys - recently she asked about learning Fantasy and was mainly wondering if she had to devote her entire life to a game just to be able to play it. I assured her that you don't have to be an expert on all things GW to play an enjoyable game of Warhammer, so she's currently reading the rulebook so that I can't pull any fast ones on her when we play. I'm really excited to see what she can do and will probably get her a High Elf army with my Outrider cred - though she still vows that she's going to dip the minis in glue and sprinkle them with pink glitter - do you think they'd allow that at a GT? |

I dunno if spouses etc should play... I guess it would be fun but it would infringe on some of our 'personal time'... My girlfriend is more interested in checking out all the 'pretty' clothes on the high elves (everqueen) and agruing with me that skaven are not, in fact, cute! (which they are. lol she's just jealous )
Jeez thats harsh indeed... I made sure my girlfriend knew about my hobby before we started going out, and she's fine with it. she actually finds it interesting supposedly... What I hate are people's GF's who try and stop them playing the game... one of my friends is going through this at the moment... not nice at all... |

Dude! Your GF actually thought Skaven were cute? cool! My GF thinks they are ugly!!
To solve this problem, you be very very skavenlike and make up fake, really bad rules for them to deter him from playing them lol! aand anyway, whats wrong with night goblins?? |

My gf helps me paint sometimes. She's better at it too. ![]() That's about it though; she doesn't play Warhammer or watches games or anything. And I'm perfectly happy with that. (PAINT WOMAN!.. PAINT!)

I met my wife in a warhammer club! It is great, you know, we painting together, making funy jokes about other races, the whole thing you can have with a warhammer buddy! She is a cunning oponent, and she knows how to get the most out of her darkelves. If only I could defeat her with more than just painting...
Now that's a woman you don't want! If she doesn't respect you as a boy, how can she respect you like a man! And by the way: I keep telling my wife Skaven are cute! |

I met my boyfriend at a warhammer club too! We paint together, and once I am prodded into actually finishing all my clanrats (soo ... many... clanrats... *glazed expression*) we're going to play together too. Also, it means I don't have to try and fit a whole gaming table into student accomodation - always a daunting prospect - and we can have Very Long conversations about army lists and conversions, that might cause a different Significant Other to look nervous and change the subject. It's a very good arrangement indeed! ![]()
That seems terribly harsh of her. It sounds like she didn't want a boyfriend at all, she wanted minions! In which case, she should have played Warhammer, you get a whole army of them! Not that that's the reason I started playing or anything, of course not... *shifty eyes* Skaven are cute! |

First of all, you do not need a woman like that, nor does a man need a woman like that. A loved on is not a hobby. My suggestion to all those who are not married and are contemplating on dating (this exculdes all who are dating, married, etc.), tell them right away. Tell them its your hobby and its how you wind down. Tell that person you enjoy thier company, but sometimes you need alone time to paint, or time to play. NEVER take a spouse, girlfriend, etc., to Games Day, unless they are into the hobby as much as you. You will have a bad time. Also, no matter how much you like the person, if they are critical of your little men and your liitle hobby, then you may never be happy. Find someone accepting. The great part about my wife (Mrs. Rodenticus) is that she hates this stuff, and when I want to play she stays away. My best friend wife and her are good friends, so we just pawn them off on each other, and head for the hills. Oh, and if your girlfriend is real critical, do not build a games table at home, she'll hate you for it. Also don't build one if your loved one encourages you to, its thier way of getting you to stay in. MR, attorney to the rats |

I used to have a girlfriend, but she wanted me to give up 3 hours of my Warhammer painting time each day, and she wanted me to quit the game. That didn't last long. |

My wife builded our gaming table herself  I didn't even know about it. And yes, the endless conversations about armylists, battles, the models, and mostly just stupid things(Elfs are gay, Skaven are betther then dwarfs, Skaven worships Chaos, yes or no, such stupid things) |
