Dabbling GM. Clanrat loon. 6th Edition Aficionado. Bitter.

what books is everyone reding at the moment?

ive just obtained the first or the 'Druss' trilogy, and its a giggle alright, all about a big hariy woodsman who's grandfather was an insane killer who went a-slaughtering with his big ol' axe Snaga.

Now a bunch of raiders have wiped out Druss' whole village and taken his wife as well as all the other young females away to be sold as slaves, the raiders killed Druss' father, who told him where he could find Snaga (t'was in his house) as he died, now Druss is on a search for his wife, with his insane grandfather's axe, a short temper and a lot of bloodlust.

oh, and he's helped by Shadak, an ex-soldier and now a hunter of humans, who's after the leader of the raiders for killing his brother. He also refers to everyone as 'laddie'.....

I read those books about a year ago, but if I remember correctly there are more then 3 books with him being one of the lead characters. And all of the books were great. Have you read books about Waylander from the same writer? They are pretty good as well.

Annyway, I just finished reading the Riftwar series of Raymond E Feist, I found them better then the Druss series.

The Dan Brown books. Digital Fortress, specifically.
The Skaven language is the only one to include 32 words for "friendly fire" and none for "reliability"

Robert Jordans "The Wheel of Time" series.

I'm half-way through the "Lords of Chaos". They are great thus far. ^_^

I just finished "The Wiz Biz" by Rick Cook. A good book (computer software developer saves a magical realm) and I'll be looking into others in the series soon.

I have read the Riftwar series, an excellent series that got me hooked on Fantasy Novels. The Wheel of Time is another of the greats of this age (meaning that it was written while I'm alive :P ).

Fantasy Novels I've read and liked:

Shanara Series by Terry Brooks, though it's getting a bit dated by now
Memory, Sorrow and Thorn Series by Tad Williams (didn't like Otherlands)
Valdemar Series by Mecedes Lackey

And, well, enough to have a masters in Fantasy Lit, I'm sure! Hmmm... I wonder if I wrote a thesis if they'd give me a degre...
Go forth my brethren, that we shall nibble at the roots of the old world!

We are the rats in the shadows. We hold the blades of corruption, aimed at the very heart of the Old World. We are The Council of Thirteen.

Second place in the UnderEmpire painting competition!

I used to be schizophrenic, BUT WE'RE OKAY NOW!

Mmmm... that's hard....

Well. I'm currently reading a history book on european medieval period called Sacré Moyen-Âge (it's in french, "Damn Medieval Times" would be a word by word translation")

Best fantasy novels I read:
-1-
The complete 5 series of the Dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden, a monumental 17 books masterpiece by R.A. Salvatore
-2-
The Lord of the Rings trilogy, off course!

Best books for personnal growth:
The Art of War by Sun Tzu (Chinese general of 1500 years ago or so, just love his "Of the use of spy" chapter!)
Treaty of the Five Wheels by Miyamoto Musashi (Japanese samurai of the Bakumatsu era, aka around 1860-1870)

Oh, and get your hands on an illustrated edition of the Kama-Sutra, great to "read" with your girlfriend B)

Oh man. Have fun with that.... I was a WoT FANATIC for a long time....but then there was more and more and more time between books and NOTHING HAPPENED (I mean pace-wise in the books.... Filling 1500 pages with description just got to be too much to read, since you have to reread the entire series when a new book comes out, and especially since there are so many characters....). *Sigh* When he finishes the series I'll read the rest. (Own them all, just refuse to finish until the glacial pace increases) Theyre awesome until about the 8th or 9th book...

At the moment I'm rereading The Song of Fire and Ice series.

I have to spread the word whenever I can: Read the Vlad Taltos series by Stephen Brust, I personally GUARANTEE that you wont be disappointed. Coolest assassin in an AWESOME setting with great background and tons of humor.
...And all this time I thought there was only one way to "retire" from the Council! What you call "retire", I call a "stay of execution"..whats in a word? DM Mik!

At the moment I'm revisiting 'Watership Down' by Richard Adams. For those who have never read it I strongly advise it - you'll never trust rabbits ever again! They have plots and wars that any Skaven would be proud of!
