There's a robotics club opening at my highschool and 90% of the people there have agreed that we should make super-death-robots and beat each others robot to bits.(well, not quite that far. ) The robots will not be too big I imagine, and obviously there can be no huge cutting baldes or flamethrowers in a school.Anyways, anyone ever tried to build a robot before? Any advice? We were looking through different surplus-type stores for parts, like Princess Auto. |

get a multi-slot toaster, create a propulsion system, and a device that slides metal plates into the toaster. strengthen the spring to the point where it can fire the metal plates out at high speeds, and maybe a battery or two. While shooting superheated metal discs at things sounds cool, it'll probably not work... |

Guess who's back? ...Yes, back again. This time to stay.

i made a kinda-robot once. i took an engine out of an RC truck (one of the good, gas-operated ones, not a battery-power one), mounted in in the casing for my old computer, attatched a miniature cannon i made (only 2-3 ammo though) that shoots these cool little balls i make using WD-40 (a lubricant), a washer, aluminum foil, and strip caps. big explosion BOOM. like i said, only three though. once it exploded inside the cannon, which explains why i said USED to have it. robots are fun but require lots of effort |

The teacher is trying to get funds form the principle for the club, for it's the first time the school has had one. A wedge seems to be th best design, with flipper or something on the front. but i think I want to design something mroe original. maybe some 50 pound block of a robot with a large, heavy swinging arm that bats away anything that gets near it. it's impossible for another robot to move and nothing can easily hit it! That or a chainsaw duct taped on the top or soem hevay-duty RC car with another peice of tape holding down the switch. Low tech but somewhat effective! But the sharp pointy bits not allowed, damn.maybe I'll steal some HCL acid from my science room and mix it up until it's actually concentrated enough to melt soemthing, then load it in a special water cannon. or not....

mount the blade from a lawn mower upside-down on top of it. maul anything that gets close, just make sure your robot's heavy enough not to send itself flying. you can easy make an on/off switch for it, too, and it would help keep you from going sideways |
