Skitterleap query; For an Eshin list

Ok, the Search feature is turned off, or I'd have done that first, so no bashing me for that!

So my opponent has a 5-wide unit of, say, 20 Chosen Chaos Warriors, which includes a Sorceror. The setup is like this (W = warrior, M = musician, C = Champion, B = Standard Bearer, S = Sorceror):

WMBCS
WWWWW
WWWWW
WWWWW
W

Now, my Master Assassin doesn't have a great chance to kill his Chaos Lord within the unit of Chosen Knights, so I am preparing to go for fleshier targets with less of an Armour/Ward save combo. What I want to do is skitterleap my Assassin into B2B contact with his Sorceror, but not into contact with the rest of the Warriors (so that there are no attacks back if possible - damned lack of armour save!). So I cast Skitterleap and get it off, and attempt to place like such:

WMBCSA
WWWWW
WWWWW
WWWWW
W

Except the Assassin is a little further UP in the column (so he is only touching the Sorceror).

My opponent claims that I must shift the Assassin down, so that he touches more models. Is this the case?

If it is, how can an Eshin list deal with characters inside units? I'm having a hard enough time with Challenges (since the first round I get challenged - if I refuse I cannot fight, if I don't I generally still don't win combat due to the mighty +5).

Thus far, the games I have played with the Eshin list have been wins against Dwarves, Tomb Kings, and Chaos, but that was due mainly to characters on their own and opponents that did not exactly know how to deal with an all-skirmishing list.

you don't have to shift down- it is up to you whether you maximize frontage since you charged. Kick that measly manthing infidel's ass for us!
Guess who's back?
...Yes, back again. This time to stay.

There is no rule forcing you to involve more enemies in a combat. You do have to engage with as many of your own models as possible, but in this case you're already doing this.

On challenges: remember, if your assassin is on his own, he can't refuse. If he's part of a unit, you can make the unit champion accept or refuse the challenge.

Herds of giant grazing rats are stalked by sabre-toothed predatory rats. Given enough time, will a species of intelligent, cultivated rats emerge?"

If You have Master Assasin with Fellblade then enemy must worry about chalages - in this situation if the assassin is MA with Fellblade and you chalage his sorcerer best to your enemy is refuse it - and that my bigest problem - enemy always can refuse chalage with MA with Fellblade :(

The answer to that problem is very simple, Ghaundan. Do not issue a challenge, so the sorcerer can't refuse. Then target him in the combat phase.

If you make sure no other characters are in base contact, they can't issue a challenge as they're not fighting.

If the assassin is part of a unit and the enemy challenges, simply accept with a unit champion, whilst the MA cuts the sorcerer to bits. (Unless you'd rather kill the challenger, of course. You will get all-important overkill bonusses that way.)
