Since we got the film Taxi which will be out (or already is?) in the US... how do you guys think about re-makes?

To me, the Taxi-trilogy is kind of a French cult-thing... I've watched a small piece of the 'new' American version and I have to admit that I love the girls in short skirts, but WHY... why does Hollywood has to make it ultra-commercial?

Well guys, just check the French version, and compare it to the American one...

Do you mean the movie with Fallon and Queen La Tiefa?I didn't think that the movie was a remake of the original Taxi........which I have never seen, either.

look at the us version of 'la femme nikita'; not even close to the luc besson version.
hollywood has gone too far into corporate sponsorship, they'd rather have the actors drinking coke with the label close-up than make a movie that was actually interesting as a movie.
the recent emergence of small indie film makers will [i hope] turn this trend around.
stuff like 'sky captain and the world of tomorrow' and 'garden state' are far more interesting than the latest he-man shoot-em-up anyday.

The original is from France, 1997 and (again) made by Luc Besson...

Believe me, some pieces are EXACT the same...

I just hate hollywood. It is all cliche, and money concentrated. You just have to see the Wall, and look at the difference between hollywood music films!

Then watch part 1, the 2 sequels (yes, sequels... AGAIN!) are nothing compared to the first movie.
