How many fight? Ex. If knights charge you, and you are 13" away, decide to hold, hoping he fails his charge (you don't know distance), and then they charge, stop at first model, do you move your guys to rank up with the first model up to maximum 6" move by your ranking models? |

Move all skirmishers within double their move value from the front rank of the enemy to the fighting rank. Page 116 of the BRB. For example, if a unit of knights charge night runners from 13" away, move the knights to the first night runner, then all night runners withing 12" of the from rank of the knights may be in the fighting rank, provided there's room. So, if they knights were 5 across, then up to seven night runners would be able to join the fight (5 across, plus the corners). I hope I didn't just confuse you more.

Actually, I think it would be more than 7... Don't knights usually have wider bases? |

Cavalry bases are a little wider. I think Skaven bases are 20mm and Knights are 25mm. You can just barely squeeze 8 models in base to base including the corners. I tried it with some spare bases. |

having 6 movement rocks! there is so many nasty things like that. being able to out rank in the front row will really help in combat. |

Thanks. Don't worry, I'm not confused. And I'll simply assume that if I'm in the woods that I still get the 12" move to 'rank' up, due to conditions of war? |

Remember that skirmishers' movement is unaffected by difficult and very difficult terrain.

AH!!!! I should just read the entire rulebook front to back again! I've already done it twice, and it hasn't helped. |
