The Goblin-hewer seems nasty vs. Skaven. d3 hits per rank,ST4 -2 save 48" range BS5 Unbreakable crew and a Hero leading it. Even after the SoC ,Dwarf(regular, not Slayer) and Empire players will be able to use it as a DOW. It seems as bad as a Mortar or Hellblaster(almost). It looks like it can do alot of damage to a Skaven army. Just picture it being used with a "shooty" Empire or Dwarf army along with all their other artillery and guns. Has anyone faced it yet? |

I've faced one twice. Once the screaming bell ( whatever the roll to cause a hit on toughness 7 models) took care of it, and the first time a unit of six jezzails tore the machine apart ( didn't get the crew but later warplightning fried their fat caloused tattooed butts into Valhalla or wherever the stnties go). They did take several clanrats with them though. I've never tried tunnellers. It would be interesting to see the stats if they could take out the hero or not. |

If you use a Tunnel Team ,I hope you can kill them before they strike back. Malakai has a repeater handgun(stand/shoot) and 3 shots. They all have Great weapons.(3 attacks ST6,2 attacks ST5) Sounds like you guys got lucky so far. |

I've faced it a few times. It can be nasty, but relies more on luck than even the SAD army. Tunnelers with poison can take it out (provided they bother to show up). Remember that he can't choose to stand and shoot if you're within half your charge range. You also get an armor save. But still, the next time the whine about a rattling gun, I can talk about 6D3 hits with no chance at a misfire (on a 2+, or some such sick number). |

Go forth my brethren, that we shall nibble at the roots of the old world! We are the rats in the shadows. We hold the blades of corruption, aimed at the very heart of the Old World. We are The Council of Thirteen. Second place in the UnderEmpire painting competition! | |

Remember the beautiful thing about the Goblin Hewer is that its 0-1 and about the only thing in the army that can attack you beyond arm's length. You can send anything to deal with the hewer, and I mean anything. Night runners, Gutter Runners, Tunnel Runners, Rat Swarms, etc...just get it up there. Once this machine is out of the picture, even if it has utterly decimated a large regiment...you're still left with an army that should vastly outnumber the slayers on a unit by unit basis. Next just watch out for the doomseekers and you should be fine

Regular Dwarf armies and Empire can use it too. It counts as a Rare & Hero slot. The armor save is at -2, that's no save for Skaven. I'm not too worried about it in a Slayer army,it wil be their only shooting/war machine. It will also be isolated/unprotected, when the rest of the Slayers run forward their free 2d6". |

yeah, I fought it once, but it whas peanuts. It couldn't even kill my ratogres, so they charged it, being subject to frenzy by Skavenbrew(I like to call it Coffee when using it; "so, lets give this ratogres some coffee" and stuff.)and acompanied by a packmaster, those stupid orange stunties died-died realy quik |

Tunnelers with poison can fairly easily take out the Hewer, just direct all the attacks you can against the hero and hope to poison him to death. yay for no armor. Even if the two other crew survive (which they probably wont if you have 5 tunners, so one rat on each crewmember and three on the hero averages out to 1 dead crew and one dead hero) you can take one hit with a GW and stick around thanks to outnumber. I dont really mind fighting it. |

The Goblin-Hewer's fairly useless against Skirmishing Eshin armies. It only does D3 hits against units then, and with units of 10-15 that doesn't really hurt too much... |
