Working toward 2000point... Bell.

Hi all, just starting skaven and seeing what you guys would think would be better in working toward a 2000 point army,

The general idea I want is to overwhelm my enemy with massive numbers of clan rats and slaves while using special purpos troops where their best at (WLC's to blow them and me up, rat swarms to cover flanks, etc...),

But was wondering which would probly be better,

Grey Seer with or with-out Screaming bell,

I know from playing agints Skaven that the bell has forced my Chaos army to go fleeing all over the place before, but for just a 2000 point army 200 points seems like a bit when I could add in another squad or 2 of clanrats for that,

Please drop some feedback, thx... *bsb*

Do Not Take a screeming bell. It's too much of a point sink.

other than that, take a look at the armylist section of the site. They have some pretty good ideas there.

welcome to the site

there was a thred or two as well as a poll on this, and the general concensus is that bells, while great in 3000 point games, are too expensive in 2000 points (about a quarter of your army!).

i love warpfire throwers. use several. ratling guns are good too, though. i personally use 2 WFTs and a ratling for 2000 points, 3 WFTs and a ratling for 3000.

No Bell at 2k points... you can field 2 WFT's and 2 Rat Packs for the same points...

Grey Seer
And not grey seer either. Some people love magic, But I don't want to be that to be my power. Magic is very unreliable, and the spells itself two, making it it even more unreliable. I would onl field a grey seer at 3k, maybe 2,5k. Just because a warlord is cheaper. And gives your troops leadership 10! with their full rank bonus.

I'm a big fan of using Grey Seers in 2k armies, they have potential to do great damage as well as keep opposing magic in check quite well (and if you're not willing to take risks, you shouldn't play Skaven), but to throw 200 points in addition to the 235+ points of a seer is too much. As a rule of thumb, I only use bells in 3k+ games (like most of you), they're far too many points in anything smaller.

...theres an entire thred on bell vs. no bell in 2k points, as well as one (or several) with grey seer vs. warlord
