Yea well I just got the beginnings of what will probably be about a 2,000 point :ph43r: Eshin Army :ph43r: . I'm starting out with a box of NightRunners and An Assasin, but I'm not sure where I'm going to go from there. I read the post on Jezzails and I'm thinking about some of them and maybe a few PWGs, and I guess some clanrats and slaves as well as some rat swarms will be there too. Just wondering whether rat ogres or some of the warmachines ^Warpfire^ would be worthwhile. Also looking into some gutterrunners but would making them tunnel be worthwhile? I'd be very gratefull for anyadvice you more experienced players could give.

Ajax = warpstone juice

if you use the soc eshin list you dont get rat orges...

you will need a general as well, most people like chieftans for lower point games.

if you use sword and daggers for night runners and two fighting claws for gutter runners each box should give you 8 night runners with two weapons and 4 gutter runners with 8 bodys left for other uses like ninjastars or slings.

Well, if you're doin the Eshin list, drop the idea of clanrats. They kill the Under Cover of Darkness (UCoD) rule, and I don't even think Rat Ogres are a legal choice in the official list (the one in the back of the book is not official, the one in the Storm of Chaos Book is).

My advice: Night Runners. That box of 20 is a good start, but in 2000 pts, 3 boxes should be considered minimum (4 would be better). Also, Gutter Runners, I was fielding 2 units of 10 in this list. And I wanted more. I didn't tunnel them, but I could see a unit of tunnelers being useful. The swarms are a good idea (and they skirmish, so they don't kill UCoD). Jezzails and PWGs can also be useful in this list, 6-8 of each.

And don't forget the Triad. 3 assassins in a unit. That rocks! :D

Also, you'll want to go heavy on characters (as un-Skaveny as that seems). A Master Assassin, 2 L2 Eshin Sorcerors and an assassin is one good combo, 3 L2 sorcerors and a Master Assassin with the fellblade is another,

Good luck, and have fun! :D

FEAR THE LEMMING!
Verminous is right. Kill any and all rank and file models you have, or shooters like Jezzials. Then get Assassins (Assassins), Gutter Runners (Custom Night Runners), Night Runners (Night Runners), Triads (*Drools..*Sorry, Gutter Runners), and...
Eshin Sorcerers! (The Grey Seer with the knife is my choice.)
Good luck!
(And a master assassin, 3 assassins, and two triads is evil. Do it a lot. You scout, assault in the first turn, and laugh manically as 10 models destory your opponents entire army.)
I like black text you like black text lalala! lalala! ..wow, I already lost the tune to that song..
Folks, I may return or I may vanish, but know..
*dundundunnnn*

Only if your opponent goes first. Since your scouts have to out of LoS, they won't be charging if you go first.

Who says anyhting about charging? Think of poisened throwing stars, magical and hitting on 2's and 3's all the time, hitting home at S4 (5 if Warpstone Stars)... ;)

Wee, my 13th post! :D

Thnx guys, just a few more questions....... I don't know whether or not I wanna pay the money for the SoC book so could someone just explain what the new rules it has written in it are regarding eshin. Also, how do night runners hold up against other enemys, my friend has dwarves and darkelves so those are going to be my primary enemys, against dwarves the manueverability of the skavens is gunna come in handy, but what to do to counter their war machines? Are the Jezzailes going to be able to take out a bolt thrower or maybe a cannon crew? Also are their actual triad models or does everyone just use converted gutterrunners? Lastly how effective are the slings/stars? Are they worth it, I know the nightrunners have a pretty low ballistic skill so are they going to be usefull at long range or would it be benificial to just give them all the 2nd hw?

Once again thank you all for your advice

Oh yea one more thing, in the Skaven rule book it says you must have as many units of clanrats as nightrunners....... is that true? or is there some other rule that ofsets this one?

Ah, warmachines...Eshin loves warmachines...The answer is simple: Scouts. Take Gutter Runners or Triads, and after turn 1 if you have some luck there will no more shooting, which couldn't do much anyway because of the Under Cover of Darkness.
There are no official Triad models.
There is a sling/star discussion elsewhere in this forum.
Book's worth buying, also has the Halting the Tide scenario...that scenario with Skaven...hmmm

Edit: the rules have changed, you now need to have nightrunners as mainstay units.

Thank you all again for your help, got the SoC info.... UcOd sounds like it could be a real help. Registered 4 the site seems like it'll be worthwhile.

Thnx Again :)

Also I looked up the Sorcerers and it doesn't say they're skirmishers so wouldn't that kill UcoD also? Well I got my first nightrunner painted and it's an ok job, I also got about 10 more sprayed and glued. Man they're hard to paint takes forever! ;)
