brief summary me 3 x 20 slaves (2 w/shields) 3 x 25 clanrats, fc 25 stormvermin, fc 2 rat swarms 20 monks, fc, hatred banner 1 giant rat pack 10 night runners, xhw 3 rat ogres 2 x 7 tunnel teams, poison hw xerxes: ench sh, weeping blade, warpstone amulet arxakl: storm banner twik: nogun kit, storm-daemon, dispel scroll him 2 x 10 rxb 2 x 12 corsairs 2 x 5 dark riders 6 CoK 12 witch elves 5 shades 5 harpies 2 rbt hydra sorceress: 2nd lvl (word of pain, chillwind), +1 power die, dispel scroll general on manticore: 2+ save, +1 dispel die terrain a shack mid east just outside my dz, a hill center my dz, a hill west his dz, a hill east outside his dz my deployment west to east, checkerboard rat ogres, clanrats, stormvermin, slaves, clanrats, slaves, clanrats, slaves, monks, night runners rat swarm in front of mid clanrats, giant rats in front of stormvermin his deployment, west to east hydra, rbt, rxb, dark riders, dark riders, corsairs, CoK, witch elves, corsairs, rxb, rbt manticore behind dark riders, sorceress behind east corsairs basically it went like this: he advanced everything, i set up counter-charges for when my slaves fled his CoK, manticore, west corsairs, and witch elves. they were all charged and broken except the CoK who i tied up with the swarms. his hydra died to the rat ogres and west clanrats (broke and was run down). my west tunnelers ran down his rxb and made the rbt crew flee. the monks slaughtered the east rxb. xerxes in his clanrat unit mid broke his general. mid slaves flanked the w corsairs. etc. he negated my magic until his sorceress fled with the east corsairs, after which warp lightning zapped one unit of dark riders into ash. his spells i essentially ignored and didn't do much anyway. twik wasn't much of a factor. the storm banner shut down his flyers and missiles in turn 2, which was the main reason i brought zero shooting. he conceded after turn 3. there were no close combats (each one i won by at least 4). the turn 1 and 2 movement phases made the turn 2 and 3 combats the slaughters they were. |

And he rightly should, plus the fur is so soft and cuddly it is irresistable. |

Cuddling a Skaven is approximately equal to attempting to cuddle a wolverine. On steroids. After having set fire to it's fur and danced over its parent's grave. And treading on it's nose. Etc.Etc. |

The Skaven language is the only one to include 32 words for "friendly fire" and none for "reliability" | |

thanks. xerxes attacked the manticore instead of his general. he said no one else he had fought had done that (T5 but no save instead of who knows what kind of ward save his general had on top of that 2+ armor save). that leads me to think he might not have faced the top players on the road. plus he was expecting jezzails, rgs, and wft, of which, of course, i brought none. his deployment was better, though, and he wasn't aware of the power of the storm banner, but he got his manticore up early to try out those terror tests. but naturally, big skaven units near the general are Ld 10 and everyone passed. his failings were in the movement phase. he didn't screen his witch elves so they got pulled into my charge range (and clanrats with their 4+ save consistently handle them even when charged, i've found). his spells, while not his fault, were pretty useless. he got WoP off on the monks, but with the hatred banner they still got rerolls on 5's to hit instead of 4's, no big deal with all those attacks. he completely forgot about his harpies once the storm banner was activated. and did you realize a manticore is only US4 (assuming he was correct in telling me it only had 4 wounds)? not enough to take away ranks, yay. didn't matter in this game but eventually it will, i'm sure. |
